Thank goodness for Miles, Celia, and Aleida for stepping in and helping seriously drop the temperature of the uprising, especially considering Gerardo clearly had no idea what to do to actually achieve his goals other than shouting "stop automation" while wildly waving a gun around.

Likewise, the MPKs are largely in over their heads as their rudimentary has become more apparent, whether they're high strung and ready to shoot or punch anyone that's not them or they're too damn petrified by how things have spiraled out of control.

Which terrifies me considering Palmer is still out there with his own heavily-armed forces with gods only know what kind of mindset. And that's before Palmer decides to blow Miles' deception.

While I'm not happy he was heavily assaulted, it was only a matter of time before Dev's hubris finally caught up to him, right to the point that he thinks he'll be fine strolling freely without protection during an uprising fueled by his own company's actions. The only question is how he reacts to having his own ego forcibly shoved up his ass, on the heels of Alex's politely calling him out.

Speaking of which, love is in the air. Even though it was telegraphed since the beginning of the season, I'm glad Alex and Lily confessed their feelings for each other instead of dragging it out forever.

As expected, A.J. and Marcus have met and quickly formed a bond. While I think she trusted him too quickly with her dark family history, I'm relieved Marcus handled that knowledge admirably and without shaming her.

The Martian Rebels now have a clear means of achieving their goal and, of course, the M6 aren't going to take it lying down. I can't wait to see how this plays out.

- Is Dev actually that stupid to wander the base alone without protection? He is one of the instigators of the entire crisis, everybody knows his face and he is lucky he wasn't killed on the spot. Given that he was able to return to Helios i wonder what has happened that they let him go, he's one of the most high profile prisoners they could get. Maybe he made a deal with the protestors to do something. I'm not sure what but his heart and future is on Mars now so i could very well see him switching sides and aiding Mars even if for different reasons than the protestors.

The point is space exploration which has always been the driving force of the show. It makes sense for the Martian Uprising to take place during their long journey to Titan and they'll the larger focus towards the end of the season.

I'm sorry, it doesn't add up. If i catch the person who's one of the main villains to me, who's responsible for my current and future misery and who has demonstrated he's not giving two shits about me would i just let him go after i beat him up a little? Doesn't make sense to me unless something happened after the beating that got Dev out. The last scene of Dev telling to lock the doors means something is happening on his side, the question is just what and for which party in this conflict?

As to the Titan mission - good storytelling, at least to me, doesn't open up secondary storylines that offer no benefit to the main storyline. Right now apart from the personal connections of the Titan crewmembers back on Mars they are completely disconnected from the main storyline and it doesn't make sense to use screen time for an inconsequential story so i assume it'll somehow loop back into the greater plot of the season at some point.

That's a very good point, hadn't thought of that. Clearly i am not capable to lead a rebellion on Mars.

My guess is if the sheriff ins't successful in ending the hostage situation, and the rebels don't give up, the M6 will eventually send in the US Marines to storm the Happy Valley base.

Judging from the season trailer that is definitely going to happen. We see them being mobilized at the end of the episode.

Since this show operates on a realistic timescale the only immediate thing remaining is to deal with the Sheriff/MPK force that is arming up and once that firefight is done ( or maybe not) it'll be a month or so at best before the Marines arrive so Mars has time to prepare and Defenders always have an edge against attackers so we'll see how this goes.

I like your idea though to exploit other factions on Earth outside the M-6 and i think ISN nations will be moving fast to become buddies with Happy Valley. This could ballon into a possible escalating war back on Earth as both blocks now wrestle for control or alliance with Happy Valley over the Iridium.

One thing is for sure - the remaining episodes of this season won't be boring.

Thank you for sharing. Since The Americans is one of my favorite shows and there's already parallels with that show (and not just shared actors), I'm thrilled to read this about Star City.

I thought it was a continuity error (or depressing commentary on human nature) that there was a reference to the My Lai massacre, but it happened in 1968, well before the renewed space race pulled focus and cooled down the Vietnam war. We did get a fun(?) history rhyming joke with the president being informed about the attack during a photo op at a school in Sarasota. High school, though, so he probably wasn't reading "The Pet Goat."

Don't ever underestimate people fighting for their freedom from an oppressive government, Yes, Earth has overwhelming firepower but this isn't Star Wars, Star Trek or The Expanse where the powers have dedicated Warships they can deploy and bombard ground targets with. It will be an infantry battle of maybe a company's worth of US Marines against an entrenched local resistance force that knows the base inside out.

There's many examples of people in our history that fought for their freedom and won, the very US was founded by people who won their freedom against all odds ( and with a little help from the French), the Afghans drove out the Soviets ( again, with some help) and even though the iranian government is despicable they are holding out against the mighty US armed forces as that fight has moved on from direct combat action to an economic and political war.

There's also more than simple military power to consider. As @Kraig said the Martians could turn to the ISN nations and offer them a deal for the Iridum massively shifting the power balance here plus there's also public perception at play. Starving out humans who just want fair treatment as opposed to being cast out like unwanted rubbish by technocrats like Dev Ayasa might put social and political pressure on the M6 nations if they can put their perspective onto mainstream meda.

It all depends on how smart Mars is going to play this and if Miles, Celia and others ( certainly not Gerardo) can play it smart enough. Miles has the qualities of a good leader as he's reluctant to lead making him more resistant to corruption and actual terror tactics, it just remains to be seen if he can rise to the challenge again.

I thought that too. Really excited to see where all this is going, especially Dev saying lock the doors. I keep thinking about this being a prequel to The Expanse, though I wonder how the Titan mission will tie into everything.
