For All Mankind Trailer - Apple TV- SPOILER

Well, it was still in theaters at the time of the conversation, which was about Ed going to see it with her and she said she already saw it...and then dropped the spoiler.
But it wasn't like part of the promotion of the movie? "SPOCK DIES!" It was really a secret for anyone interested?

I loved how Ed, once he gave up his position and was dressed down by Molly, effortlessly slipped back into subordinate mode and accepted the well deserved ass kicking he and Gordo got

The commander of Jamestown ripping Tracy apart was also very good and also well deserved. Tracy did bring it mostly on herself actually enjoying her celebrity status and not noticing how everybody else slowly got sick of it ( even her fanboy). The Linus tradition was funny though.

Gordo continuing his self-training is also a nice touch and finally he is at least doing something about his physical state ( which is far easier to improve than his mental state). Good on him fully opening up to his sons, this helps but he might want to seek professional help if he wants to get past that.

Aleida losing her shit at mission control was hilarious, i fully expected the window to not be sound proof but fortunately it was. Given that she's part of the Apollo-Soyuz mission and that Apollo is an old piece of crap i am pretty sure there will be a problem when they're up there and it may give Aleida her steely eyed missile man ( woman?) moment, but that's just speculation.

And weapons on the moon now, what could possible go wrong there?

Yup. He got his sheepish look on fast!

I meant to mention Tracy's punishment before but I was disappointed when he let her drinking slide, partially because of her celebrity status. Drinking, smoking, general apathy of the whole thing. Tracy is in a very bad spot and, while she got some punishment for her actions, it won't be enough for a wake-up call and I fear how badly that's going to blow up in everyone's faces.

YES! I loved that, too! I also expected mission control personnel to turn around bewildered but I'm also relieved that didn't happen. I'm really looking forward what Aleida do now despite (or perhaps, unconsciously, because of) her bad relationship with Margo. Interesting times ahead...

Guaranteed hot mess. Not looking forward to that.

What's he going to do? Ground her, kill her career and have her become even more unpopular than she already is for a whole of 5 months because she's not allowed to do anything and is dead weight for the crew of Jamestown? I'm pretty sure he will now monítor her very closely, especially if she drinks again ( he must know about the moonshine but as a good leader lets it slide as long as it's not a problem because it relaxes the crew a little bit) and a single significant slip up again and she's toast.

She got a kick in the behind and a wake up call, let's see if she can pull it together and find her center again, which is being an astronaut and not a celebrity.

Well, he could've formally write her up like he said he was going to do until she pleaded for him not to. I don't know how effective such a write-up would be, but considering she's military, that should care some weight, even if her military life has taken a backseat to her celebrity.

An official write up for drinking while on the job may have killed her career for good at the level she operates and the responsibilities she has, this is not on the level of repeatedly coming too late to a shift. I can only assume that when she got back she may never get back up again because the people in charge like Molly or Ed wouldn't care about her celebrity status.

Morris, the commander, might even be forced to have a word with the chemist who made the moonshine and either put a cap in it or informally ask him to monitor for others going too often to the well.

Yeah, that's fair. I'm not outright mad about it, just disappointed (which stems from my own personal experiences and observations from my time in the Navy). That said, I'm not convinced Tracy will turn things around from this wake-up call, but hopefully you're right about the commander keeping a close eye on her from here out.

1. I miss Johnny Carson, no one did late night better than Johnny
2. It’s 1983 and TWOK is still in theaters? I wonder how their version differs from ours?
3. There should be 1/6th gravity inside the Jamestown base as well as outside, but I’ll give them a pass as the f/x would be a pain to do
4. I liked the concrete-ish landing pad for the LSAM, a nice logical next step from landing in the dust and rocks

If that happened in real life you know people would be saying "obvious sound stage" :D

It also looks like Molly has developed cataracts from her radiation exposure, because she couldn't read the rules of engagement to the new crew bound for Jamestown Base.

This past episode, it looked to me like the boots they were wearing were extra-thick on the bottom. I wonder if they've handwaved it with tungsten insoles or something like that to make working indoors a little less awkward. It's not an uncommon idea, "The Expanse" has people on the moon wearing magnetic boots as a matter of course, and IIRC, in the novel of 2001, the characters on the moon wore weighted belts.

Yup, I wasn't surprised by that development. Question is how long will Molly be able to keep the radiation exposure ailments hidden from everyone else. It's not going to last forever.

She's military?!?
You're right, I made a mistake there. Now that I think about it, she was only ever a civilian pilot. I guess allowed the usual case of astronauts being Air Force or Navy pilots first to apply to Tracy without thinking about it further.

That said, Tracy's behavior makes more sense because she's always worked as an individual and less as a component of a team like most military personnel operate.

While that would fix why they aren't floating around, that doesn't address why food, drinks, and other non-metallic objects don't float around.

I also thought about the lighter gravity at Jamestown, just as I did last season when it was a smaller base, and figured the show deliberately didn't focus on that part for cost reasons. Much the same way Ridley Scott did the same in The Martian.

I wonder if there are moon-hoaxers in the FAM universe, “its all totally fake man, all 637 American and Soviet missions were filmed on a secret soundstage at Area 51 by Stanley Kubrick..”
Undoubtedly. There are always conspiracy nutjobs that deny reality no matter what!

They do it occasionally, just enough to remind you it's there. The cigarette smoke behaving oddly this past episode, the crew tossing a toolbox across the room like a beachball last season. Maybe they should've shot the MRE scrambled eggs plopping out of the can in slow motion, just to underscore how even more unappetizing it'd be when it's trying to bounce off the plate.

Yeah, the MRE scrambled eggs was the thing that stuck out the most to me. Slow-motion plopping definitely would have made it even worse.

And they looked disgusting! :D Can't imagine having to eat that for a month every day.

I wonder what astronauts in the ISS do when they return after a few months, i can't imagine they can down a steak and fries from the get go before their bodies have readjusted to gravity including their digestive tracts.

Yes. They tried to keep it secret. Some fans were shocked. I recall a story about one fan being in denial and audibly saying in the theater that Spock was not dead, can't be dead. When Spock bumped into the glass wall the guy said "see, he's just blind."

"Luke, I am your father" was another one of those spoiler surprise moments.

There was less opportunity to get spoiled, too. If you didn't read Starlog or Cinefantastique (also by Starlog Press) or Fangoria magazines, you really didn't know anything in advance.

Are Karen and Danny Stevens headed for a Mrs. Robinson moment?

Oh, thank the gods, I'm not the only person who saw that! I thought I went insane for a moment.
Literally every discussion board or review I saw or heard has commented on Danny and Karen's weird, uncomfortable chemistry. I mean, I wasn't going to say anything...

While I was having lunch today, I suddenly remembered the fun/weird little bit of business of Ed slowly putting the entire serving dish of parmesan on his spaghetti one spoonful at a time.
