Film scores you like

'Silverado' by Bruce Broughton is probably my favourite non-skiffy score.

Forgot about that one. It is good.

I'd also like to add to my list:

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly by Ennio Morricone

Airport by Alfred Newman

This may sound trendy and fanboi-ish, but I really enjoyed Inception, both Hans Zimmer's film score and Zac Hemsey's piece, "Mindheist," for the trailer.

In no special order, some of my favorite scores (providing examples if any of you have never heard any before!):

"Rudy" (one of the gretest film scores ever written)
Cue: "Tryouts"

[yt]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x89IxBzry9A[/yt]

"Capricorn One"
Cue: non -- another suite; I don't have headphone access -- is this original score, or crappy re-dones by the YouTube poster? And is this the OST or the GNP re-recording? OST is SUPERIOR.

Damnit -- I ran out of time and I'm not even to a half-way point yet!

I had no clue what 'skiffy' meant, so maybe next OP can be more specific?

I guess my original list was all skiffy then (even if Rudy was on there!)

Two more that I like:

Silverado (thanks for reminding me!)
To Kill A Mockingbird

Indiana Jones Trilogy

John Williams IS the man.

Okay, correction: HERE is "Escape From Mantua" (went to a library yesterday with headphones to verify), and it's extremely well done in the way it is set to scenes from "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" -- fans of BTVS shoudl watch!

"The Magnificient Seven" arrived the other day and I listened to it on a long drive through Virginia (location scouting). Wonderful. Scores from the 50s and 60s are a lot more interesting than most of what I hear currently.
