QFT. Most modern writers don't know how to wrangle in the 'modern audience'.Then don't write for a show with 60 years of lore.
Just look at the absolute glazing that's happening to the Cyclops trailer for Doomsday.

Exactly. The minutiae of the continuity should always be secondary to the needs of the story. Star Trek is not some grand history, it is a mythology. And like most mythologies, there are contradictions. So what?I prefer Doctor Who's Russell T Davies take on the matter. "When it comes to serving the story or serving continuity, serving the story should win every time." Or even better, Terrance Dicks, also from Doctor Who, said "continuity is only whatever I can remember."
Served them so very well didn't it?I prefer Doctor Who's Russell T Davies take on the matter. "When it comes to serving the story or serving continuity, serving the story should win every time." Or even better, Terrance Dicks, also from Doctor Who, said "continuity is only whatever I can remember."
That's why nobody remembers NuTrek and discusses Classic Trek on an upcoming show's thread.Exactly. The minutiae of the continuity should always be secondary to the needs of the story. Nah they spend 400M on a show where they can't even keep track of their own continuity.Yep.
When Harve Bennett took over Star Trek he knew nothing about it so he took the time to watch TOS episodes and in doing so came up with an idea that became TWOK. He didn't say "F it, Ill just write whatever I want because research is too hard." Thats just pure laziness.
At least hire a consultant that knows the subject inside and out. Producers and directors use to do it all the time.
Sure, Jan. Nobody likes or remembers new Trek. That's why they keep making more of it.That's why nobody remembers NuTrek and discusses Classic Trek on an upcoming show's thread.

Show lasted decades. So, yeah.Served them so very well didn't it?
Facts and reality don't seem to apply with some people.Show lasted decades. So, yeah.
Terrance Dicks is one of the franchise's most celebrated writers and the era he worked on the show is considered by many to be its best. Russell T Davies successfully re-launched the show in 2005 and it's run twenty years consecutively since then. So, yeah, it does seem to have served them very well.Served them so very well didn't it?
Went out on a whimper.Show lasted decades. So, yeah.
The Kelvin Universe would like a word.Sure, Jan. Nobody likes or remembers new Trek. That's why they keep making more of it.![]()
It's not going anywhere.Went out on a whimper.
And that word would be? The Kelvin movies are their own thing that ran their course and they have nothing to do with the conversation at hand. This is just a whataboutism. NuTrek has been going strong for 10 years. The Kelvin Universe would like a word.
lmao no it didn't.Went out on a whimper.
Indeed. They went out on an optimistic note. Best of any of the film series honestly. And that word would be? The Kelvin movies are their own thing that ran their course and they have nothing to do with the conversation at hand. This is just a whataboutism. NuTrek has been going strong for 10 years.
