Donny's Refit Enterprise Interiors (Version 2.0)

Hey Donny, did you deliberately leave out the physical push-buttons next to the "torpedo" arming panel, is per my study below?

Because you can see them in this framegrab:

...or are they there and I'm just not seeing them?

Yeah I doubt the lenses were the exact lenses used in the TOS transporter. I believe this rumor originated from “The Art of Star Trek” in which the books states that they’re the same lenses, when they probably just meant the same type of lens.

I’ve heard that a good bit of information in that book is wrong or misleading, so I tend to scrutinize any of the information Inside.
Fun fact: In "WNMHGB", the transporter platform was not the glass plate that has existed in all incarnations since "The Man Trap", but a concave grille, that looked kind-of dangerous to stand on:

Donny, get crackin'! ;)

No, the Fresnel lenses were indeed present in the WNMHGB transporter room. My guess is they may have been experimenting with other things but settled on the lenses for the transporter pads. I reviewed the screencaps and they WERE present.

I am inclined to agree that they used the same type of lens and not the original lenses themselves.

That metal grating

They also appear next to the Phaser Charging panel:

I wasn't sure they were meant to be buttons, but now that I'm seeing them next to the torpedo panel, I think you're right. I'll add them :)
[EDIT] Aha! The handwritten notes for the weapon's console in the Enterprise Flight Manual do indeed call these buttons out as on/off switches! Huzzah! (Also note yet another misspelling of the word "Torpedoes")

I can't seem to find it, but I've got a publicity photo somewhere showing that the grille still existed underneath the fresnel lenses during the regular season one. Its a shot from above the actors looking down into the transport chamber. I believe that the folks at Star Trek: Continues re-created this shot with their cast. @feek61 can you confirm?

Hey, @Maurice....I too couldn't decipher what the missing text was via screencaps, so I made up some of my own. However, I just found this photostat image (among a ton of other ones) over in the archives at the TMP Appreciation Society on Facebook which solves the mystery. I'll be updating my graphic accordingly:
I've never seen that there. There's such a high noise to signal ratio. I guess I'll have to do a deep dive.

The only thing wrong with TMP is that there's not enough of it. I could really use a few more scenes of people staring at the viewscreen. And the uniforms don't look enough like pajamas.
Now it's on. I cannot argue on pacing. (That would be that "flaw" thingy.) But the TMP uniforms are Star Trek's absolute best. And you know what? The admiral uniform isn't even in my top 3!

Well, the Director's Edition really cleaned up a lot of the stuff from the original movie. It's a pity that will most likely never see an HD Blu Ray release. :(

They look very comfortable. Their colors are a bit muted but anything else wouldn't match the movie's look at all.

Okay, peeps. I need your help. I'm making the display screens around the bridge this week and there are a couple that have eluded me for years. They are the graphics on the Internal Security Station (seen here in the Enterprise Flight Manual, and here with text descriptions). The bottom left screens show the status of security sensors on the interior and exterior of the ship. The bottom right screens are duty status report indicators. When I replicated these screens for my 2014 build, I completely made up most of the text. However, I spent my lunch reviewing the graphic from the flight manual, and surprisingly I'm able to figure out most of it (and yes, I was WAY off on my original attempt). Below you'll see my best guesses at what the text is for all 4 screens. Anything in red is what I'm unsure of or cannot discern at all. If anyone has any ideas, educated guesses, or reference they can provide to help confirm what this text is, I'd greatly appreciate it! Also, feel free to challenge any of my guesses.

Btw, there are 3 entries in which the text description of the flight manual confirms:
(First graphic) DECK 22 LEVEL 11 WASTE RECOVERY
(Second graphic) DECKS 14-15 DECK HATCHES
and
(Fourth graphic) UNIT 12 CHIEF ENGINEER (although it appears to have been shortened to CHIEF ENG)

Here are the graphics as they appeared in the Flight Manual, with my guesses below each text entry in legible font:
[EDIT] I think the first entry is actually "HEAT EXCHANGER", not "HEAT CONVERTOR"

Wow... they have 6 duty shifts on a Connie and only 3/4 on a Galaxy? Learn something new every day!

I think Unit 13 is “Research Off”, because “Officer” wouldn’t fit, they’re referring to official position names and “Officer” is used several times elsewhere in these graphics.

You could probably infer the deck numbers from the old TMP cutaway poster and the things that are associated with them that you could make out.
