Wow, thanks @Bill Thompson ! Do you have a super-clear version of the Flight Manual so that you're able to make this out? I only have the digital version and have never seen a print-version.

Wow... they have 6 duty shifts on a Connie and only 3/4 on a Galaxy? Learn something new every day!

I think Unit 13 is “Research Off”, because “Officer” wouldn’t fit, they’re referring to official position names and “Officer” is used several times elsewhere in these graphics.

You could probably infer the deck numbers from the old TMP cutaway poster and the things that are associated with them that you could make out.
Yeah, I was less concerned with the deck numbers because I figured I could piece them together from bits of “official” info (like the cutaway poster and MSGTTE). But Bill’s post above seems to have cleared everything up.

Hrmm.. how would that work? 6 duty shifts. We planning around a 24 hour day or an 18 hour day? 24 that'd be 4 hours each duty shift. 18 even less...

All depends on what is meant by "duty shift." It could be like how the nursing staff is set up at my wife's hospital: Two shifts, Day and Night, working 7a-7p and 7p-7a, respectively. Or it could be like what i experienced in the Navy: The crew divided into sections with equal amounts of qualified watchstanders in each section, and the watchstanders stand watch only on their duty day. Other days would be normal work days.

Edit to add; And there is no reason to think that all of the six duty shifts would be utilized in all situations. Maybe six shifts are only used in port where minimal staffing would allow more crew members to be off the ship.

I most likely have the same source as you: the muddy low res scans on Cygnus. I have a background in historical calligraphy, so fortunately I'm used to deciphering the indecipherable! :D

Slowly but surely getting the display screens done. Doesn't help that there's quite a few differences in the displays across all the bridges I'm building.

TMP Enterprise captain's chair (now with controls!) and science station.

TWOK Enterprise science station, environment station, damage & repair station, and gravity control station.

That is truly awesome work. Now make it a little darker and add some zombies.

I’ve been playing too much Resident Evil. :)

That last TWoK render looks absolutely stunning, truly looks just like a photograph.

If I remember correctly, the last comic we've got from the TMP era was a weird zombie crossover, so... you know, would be fitting in a way...

A couple more station's display screens in the bucket! Finished up the communication and engineering stations. Here they are in their TWOK Enterprise configurations:

A closer shot of the communication's station's graphics on the TMP Bridge:

And the engineering and internal security stations on the TMP Bridge:

Now, moving onto the animated monitor screens!

For some reason the TrekBBS algorithm really doesn't want me keeping up with this thread! My last notification was back when Donny dropped the TMP corridor video in December and I haven't had one since

Regardless, it has made for some excellent reading over the weekend. I really like how you managed to customise the Bridge to form the Grissom version! :techman:

I LOVE Building. I HATE texturing. You have the patience of a saint Donny and the results are fantastic.
Texturing has become my favorite part of the process, to be honest. A great model is awesome, but it's the texture that brings the model to life. Gives it story. Character.

On another note, I'll be thankful when I'm done with the bridges. I started work on them on January 1 and I'm anxious to move on to other things. They're the most labor-intensive, detailed sets of the Refit-era ships (due to the fact that each station requires both a unique set of models and a plethora of unique control graphics) so I'm glad I've tackled them early on with this project. And I know if I don't finish them 100% before moving on, I'll never finish them. So I'm going to continue to press on, despite my enthusiasm waning. Here's to hoping that the work will only take another 2-3 weeks at maximum!

Things left to do:
Reliant Auxiliary Consoles displays
Main Viewer displays
Animated monitor screens for all stations
Red-Alert mode implementation
Finalize Grissom-specific geometry and displays
Final lighting pass

Good to have you back! I keep running into the same issue with @Rekkert's thread. I have to check it periodically to make sure I don't miss anything since I no longer get e-mails.

You two and your email notifications! Stalk the forums like REAL nerds and check threads daily! :P

So I was doing a search for old educational films about space from the 70s in hopes of finding good video files to use for some displays around the bridges (as there are a couple of videos playing on monitors in TWOK that look like they may have been pulled directly from an old education video), and lo and behold the first thing I find is an exact video clip that was used in TWOK and it was a video narrated by William Shatner! Granted, they rotated the images used 180 degrees, but there they are.

I was literally only looking for five minutes before I found it! I did a search for "educational space videos vintage" and it was one of the top results.
