Doing a Daedalus Class Variant :)

The more I look at it, the more I like it... I have a couple of minor issues. The horizontal portion of the nacelle pylons that come out of the spine, and the bulbous keel of the secondary hull... But that's just me. It's a fine looking ship.

Starting detailing of the bottom of the sphere.

I like the two antenna in front of the dorsal. Perhaps this could be the Lovell after constant modifications.

I was actually thinking of it as an experimental precursor to what eventually became the Daedalus class. But not a bad idea either.

So does this mean that the Magellan is not actually a sub-class of the Daedalus, but a different, but related class?

It's definitely related to the Daedalus. My two theories are that it was either a pre-daedalus prototype, for what eventually became the Daedalus class, or it's a Daedalus class ship that has been heavily refitted over it's service life, and has now become an experimental testbed for new technologies.

I'd be okay with that. I'll consider it a Daedalus refit then. :)

Now back to modeling windows on the bottom of the sphere :(
