Doing a Daedalus Class Variant :)

The saucer, though with some TOS design cues, looks much larger what with a smaller Phase II bridge complex. Over at sub-odeon's FASA game site, he has some spec's and a redraw of the TOS--and refit era--dreadnaught. There, the artist did something very clever. He put the port side gangway directly above the more circular travel pod hatch--one atop the other to show just how thick the saucer was.

This design looks able to pull off the same duo, though it might be nice to actually see docking hatches on the forward side of a saucer flanked by deflectors to either side.

Not sure exactly what you mean. Can you link me to a drawing?

As for the saucer, it is designed to be larger than the typical constitution class saucer.

Hull lines coming along slowly but surely.

I also have a very nice Magellan animation render going at the moment, so I'll hopefully post that tonight.

Thanks!! I'm eventually going to probably make a mock Star Trek intro for her, but that's a little bit down the line.

Again, a very nice Daedalus variant/refit you've got there.

Besides Forbin's USS Reeses its the only Daedalus-ish design I really like.

ooh! Many thanks for that. I really like that idea actually. I just have to de-evolve it a bit so that it fits more into the "phase II" timeline of design. But I think it's something I'll look into adding!

I thought your ships have always been inovative and original. I could see the linage of the ROOSEVELT (never could find a class name) into a pre CONSTITUTION CLASS design. By the way have you done a single (center-line) nacelle using the same one used in the ROOSEVELT. It is attched to the saucer section just above the location of the impulse drive housing on the CONSTITUTION CLASS. With regard to the Daedalus/NX-01 controversy ought to have been addressed by having done some interim sets of ships that were DAEDALUS-CLASS and various refit blocks of it with retrofits into other architectures that reflect something of a flattening of a spherical primary hull that would eventually become the traditional saucer. Now to be fair, there is little that reflects Daedalus as anything other than a war time design that was cheap and easy to build to fill the ranks. Interestingly enough I have seen two rederings of the DAEDALUS-CLASS. Both were set in a tracitional space dock. One had an NX with a Daedalus class just behind it as if it were the next ship of the line, with the other looking very small in the space dock on its own. The NX Class were slow and incredibly complicated builds, and one imagins expensive. After all five years to build a ship? The DAEDALUS-CLASS was after all a sphere, and four tubes of various diameters. A simple and efficient design, though the original spacial relationship was off. The secondary hull attached far to low on the sphere. It should have been closer to the center of the sphere. Also the original pylons joining at the neck were just plain impossible to work. The torque on the ships neck would have torn them apart. Even if the neck and pylons were made of unubtainium or its equally fictional adamantium steel. Bringing them back to the center dorsal of the engineering section, of the secondary hull was much superior in design. Despite its draw backs I would still prefere it to have been the hero ship of ST: ENTERPRISE. I would like to see more of your Roosevelt ship, perhaps an orthographic or other renders. It's turned out to be one or my favorite Pre-TOS ships. I would like to know if the single nacelle ship I mentioned above was one of your designs. The nacelle had the same oversized frontal cowling was a duplicate of your design. I really enjoy your work. Best of luck in your future endeavors. You can emaI'll me at my address.

Hey @templerman! It's against the board rules to resurrect threads that are older than a year, let alone nine years. I try not to be too strict in enforcing this rule and will turn a blind eye if the original poster is still around to reply (or if they indeed are resurrecting the thread themselves), but since @floodcasso2 hasn't logged in to the board in over a year and isn't likely to see your post and reply I'm going ahead and close it now.

Can anyone tell me what caused the brackets through the parts of my comment? I have never seen them before.
From what I can tell you seem to have copied and pasted the text from another software (like Microsoft Word). Text from those softwares often include invisible styling code that becomes visible once you paste it into the text editor here.
