Does anyone here exercise regularly?

I've recently decided that I'm going to improve upon my exercise regimen. While it does okay, I'm more concerned for my health lately. A close friend of the family passed away yesterday. He was 32 years old. I'm 30. What affected me was the fact that like me, he was born 3 months early. Like me, he had high blood pressure and diabetes by the time he was 25. Like me, he had a weight problem. We were within 5 or 6 oz. of each other's weight. So I started looking around at what medical science had to say about preemies, and the prognosis isn't a happy one. I'm more than just a little scared, to be honest.

On a positive note, I learned to read well before most children do. I was walking after a year, so there were no real developmental delays, but still, the health issues cause me concern. I'm hoping a more strict regimen with an ever more streamlined diet will help stave off such things.

My legs are really in shape due to running.

Pics or you're lying. :D

You're skinny!

I didn't know RAMA was muscular. I liked Hubby cause he's got some meat on his bones, but he's not muscular like that. S'okay, though.

I run. Outside when the weather is good, otherwise the gym. Alternated with weights. Even if you don't have a regime, I can't fathom those that will get in their car to drive somewhere which takes ten minutes to walk - *why* ? And of course, you can keep yourself fairly active just by not sloth-ing out on the couch day-in-day-out. It is quite alarming that some Brits are catching up with Americans in the obesity stakes ...

I walk a lot so long as my asthma or arthritis isn't too bad.

However during winter I can't walk much because of all the woodsmoke in the air aggravates my asthma. In winter I walk by doing Freestep in Wii Fit Plus. I also have a few other sports games for my Wii.

Yeah, I was always one of those gangly scarecrow types. :rommie:

RAMA is quite a bodybuilder; he's built like the incredible Hulk. :D There are probably more pictures of him around somewhere....

I usually exercise a lot ... I did a lot of weight training over the years, and I was a fairly serious runner until a couple of years ago (I did a half marathon in 2009), but then I got arthritis in my hip and and had to quit. But I switched to hiking and walking after that.

Right now I'm recovering from surgery and I'm going absolutely BUGSHIT CRAZY from not being able to exercise. I can't wait until I'm healed up enough to start taking long walks again and get back into the gym!

^^RAMA's muscles have muscles. :techman:

Umm how do you know :p

*looks at your avatar*

*looks at your leg pic*

It's just a crazy guess. :p

'Sides, I remember your photos in the picture threads a few years back (before I took my long hiatus from the bbs). I'm pretty sure I'm right.

Do you compete?

Yes well we are glad to see you back!!

No I havent competed in anything significant, just a few gym contests in the past.

RAMA

I ride my bike about 12k each day, power-walk 45mins at lunch on weekdays, and jog 60-90 mins with the dog 3-4 days a week. I've been trying to weight train 3 days a week but I find it hard to get motivated at home, so I just started a gym membership. It's right on my bike route home, so hopefully I'll stick to it.

Thanks, I'm glad to be back. :D

Are you ever planning on competing or are you content to look like you do?

I run a bit do some weight stuff then run between 6 and 10km 3 times a week in the Gym. I only started going three months ago. I thought it would be awful, but I find it's not too bad and I feel better for it.
