Does anyone here exercise regularly?

What do you do? Do you go to a gym, walk/run, play sports?

weight training two or three times per week, hip hop dance classes three times per week, run 10km during the span of a week (either 2 x 5km or 3 x 3.33km sessions). i may also resume my ashtanga yoga practice after a three year absence.

RAMA, is that Ocean City in your avatar?

YES yes! Youve been there?

RAMA

Oh yeah. I grew up in AC (well, Ventnor, but close enough) and have spent quite a bit of time there over the years. I recognized it from the pier and that little strip on the wood.

OC's got, IMHO, the absolute best cheese steak I've ever had--Voltaco's on West Ave.

Do you spend a lot of time there?

Yup, I live right over the bridge now. I'll be on the Bwalk at least once or twice this week. I was just in AC yesterday and I've worked in Ventnor!

Yes well we are glad to see you back!!

No I havent competed in anything significant, just a few gym contests in the past.

RAMA

Thanks, I'm glad to be back. :D

Are you ever planning on competing or are you content to look like you do?

I'm mainly training to look decent as a personal trainer, and for a possible photo shoot next year at some point.

I've started going to a gym that opened up near my home about a month ago, have been going pretty regular 5 times or so a week, resting when my muscles are too sore. I'm focused mostly on cardio on the elliptical trainer to get rid of my "swim ring". :D (was kind of shocked when I discovered I weigh 95 kilos, used to be around 80...)

Weight training is fun too, makes me feel strong, but I always need two days rest in between since I'm really not used to doing that, especially since I switched from the machines to free weights.

^^^So I'm guessing you're not hitting up the Mack and Manco's pizza while you're hanging out on the boards, right? :)

I usually run about 1.5 miles a day with about 45 min to an hour of pushups and situps worked into it.

In the past I used to do much more, working in a 4 or 5 mile run at least twice a week.

Growing up the big thing was to go to Gillian's Fun Pier and then, before heading back, get a container of Johnson's popcorn with the lid off.

Are you originally from South Jersey? If so, how did you end up a Yankees fan? That's like heresy!

Well I was born in Jersey City, but was moved before I was a year old. I've never liked the Phillies or Eagles.

There's a Mack and Manco's about half a mile from me on the mainland now too.

I’m getting my time on the elliptical machine up to 45 minutes now. Have not dropped an ounce or weight, nor can I blame it on gaining muscle, as my pants fit the same as before.

I think I’m going to need more than 4-5 weeks to start this process, just like a few years ago.

It'll take a while to see results. When I start a new program it normally takes a few months before I see big differences.

I took my first long walk yesterday, 3 weeks post-surgery. I walked 2 miles ... it felt pretty good! I think I'll try it again this evening after it cools off. In another couple of weeks I'm going to try to ease back into some weight workouts too.

The good news is that I'm now antacid-free (after laparoscopic esophageal surgery to fix heartburn) and I dropped 15 pounds from the post-surgery liquid diet. Not a method I'd recommend to anyone trying to lose weight, though!
