Discussion of 9 minute trailer

Re: Very iffy copy of 9 minute trailer

I am really appalled by the absurdity of someone doing that.

And I thank them for it. Is it May yet?

Re: Very iffy copy of 9 minute trailer

A paramount and your copyright claims... the video showing the preview is a whole new piece of art / product and therefore copyright of whoever filmed this.
:p
Glad i saw the prologue already on wednesday.Way better quality in theatres than on youtube.... Better sound too and the Giacchino score is just gorgous. I know, it is just a temporary score, but I hope at least some of it stays in the final movie

Re: Very iffy copy of 9 minute trailer

Well, dammit. Wish I could have seen it, even with this quality. Will scour Vimeo on the hopes someone snagged it and is sharing.

Re: Very iffy copy of 9 minute trailer

If anyone finds another copy, please post. Missed it.

Re: Very iffy copy of 9 minute trailer

I am disgusted that someone would do this. Ahem.

In other news, that looks great!

To paraphrase Captain Louis Renault from Casablanca:

"I'm shocked, shocked to find that someone would make this pirated film!"

Now -- I'm going to go watch that over and over.

Re: Very iffy copy of 9 minute trailer

The 9 minute preview is out there still, I just stumbled across a copy on one of those downloading sites (a la [redacted]).

I'm good with the screencaps. Video probably sounded like ass anyway... still pumped!

Re: Very iffy copy of 9 minute trailer

Bizarre how clear it is for a 3-D projection. I can't imagine Paramount is going to be pleased with michantheninja.

all you'd have to do to record a 3d movie is put one of the polarizing filters from the glasses over the lens of the camera.

Re: Very iffy copy of 9 minute trailer

It's awful that people put these first 9 minutes up on the net...

Only 9 minutes... Where the hell is the rest of it?

Re: Very iffy copy of 9 minute trailer

They haven't taken the price scanners off the bridge?!

Re: Very iffy copy of 9 minute trailer

Yeah, for once an Enterprise bridge looks exactly the same as it did in the previous film. Even between TWOK and TSFS things about the bridge changed....and they were functioning on a tired, battered trainee crew and hadn't even arrived at Spacedock for repairs!

This is a Trek movie first!

To be fair, as Kirk said "the bridge [was] smashed" so in the long journey home where they picked up twice as much damage to the hull ( ) they probably replaced a lot of stuff with spares.

Yeah, possibly. The time span between the two films has always been kind of cloudy so we don't know just how much time the battle-worn crew had to make some repairs with existing stores of parts.

The only thing we know for certain is that Saavik and David had enough time to transfer over to the Grissom and arrive at Genesis to begin their scans and studies, but that doesn't require all that much time given that starships can travel at high warp and the request by Saavik and Kirk's son to go back to Genesis aboard the closest available science vessel wouldn't have taken long at all to get the greenlight.

They must have warped by Home Depot because the carpeting on the bridge is all different...

I always liked Vonda McIntyre's novelization for TSFS, because, if I recall, she spent a good 100+ pages on the period between the two films. Clearly a lot had to happen to get David and Saavik off the ship, to get someone else to go pick up the crew of the Reliant, and for Carol Marcus to magically disappear. Not to mention the change in Kirk's mood from hopeful to maudlin. (Oh, and for Kirk to record himself over his ex-ladyfriend on the Genesis "So you want to create life on a lifeless planet?" pitch video).

As soon as the Enterprise got her subspace radio online again or Starfleet grew concerned that two ships and a station were no longer responding, there was a ship sent out to investigate.

Or two, one of them being Grissom. The Reliant crew and Carol head onto Earth on one, David and Saavik board Grissom and go back.

Carol's ship arrives, someone talks, "Genesis" rumour starts.
