Very good news. And well deserved. Hopefully they can improve the streaming service so I can actually watch on Sundays.
haha... When I typed it, in my head I used the same inflection and timing as the guy from the government in Raiders of the Lost Ark. TOP MEN
And if there was any doubt, the announcement from Netflix that it is returning as well. https://twitter.com/StarTrekNetflix/status/922456588761231360
Hmmmm... I'd prefer Star Trek stay special by not saturating the market like these other franchises do. I don't want it to become what it was in the 90's or what Marvel / DC and Star Wars have become now. Star Wars is so unspecial that I don't even remember Rogue One or a single character's name. Blah.
Ya know, why not? I have cryptically dropped several hints about this several times on this forum and no one caught on. Lol. I've heard this from several sources now, so spilling the beans won't get any one person in trouble. Now, mind you, what I'm going to say was in consideration late summer 2016. So I don't know if these plans are still concrete. Also, possible SPOILERS IN THE PARAGRAPH BELOW. Spoiler: Season 2 Discovery Spoilers Last I heard (late summer 2016) CBS is considering having the Enterprise show up in some fashion at the end of Season 2 in an episode of Discovery. This will launch a spin-off show about the Enterprise's missions under Pike that will air during Discovery's downtime and visa versa. Whether this is still CBS's strategy going forward...I don't know. Maybe they've changed their mind now and will do something else. This was just the last information I heard which may or may not still be accurate. <Spoiler tag added by cultcross - that's big enough to deserve two warnings >
Yeah, that's what I'm currently worried about with Star Wars. I hate the idea of getting to a point where the attitude changes to "oh, another Star Wars". Trek really suffered that kind of fatigue. Marvel at least has enough variety and a grand assortment of source material to draw from that they can take a loss like INHUMANS every now and then as long as they have enough winners.
Hopefully they wont make the mistakes of before and oversaturate with extra trek shows. But a miniseries would fit well in that gap. Any more word on the Khan miniseries idea?
I would hope that's still in consideration! Showing Pike as one of the most-decorated officers (and us only knowing of one mission during the Pike era) would be phenomenal! We get to see what happened during his command!
