Discovery ending with Season 5

Does it? I thought everything Whedon run was retroactively labeled worst film/tv ever after Whedon's fall from grace (on a more serious note, it is surprising how people only realized how terrible his Avengers films were only after his scandal)
Age of Ultron was criticized by many even before Whedon's "fall from grace."

Firefly was great. I like Dollhouse even better. If not for Firefly, I wouldn't have ever watched Buffy or Angel. But I'm glad I did. Alien: Resurrection -- directed by Joss Whedon -- is an Alien movie I love. Not my favorite Alien movie, but I don't trash it like others do. Unpopular Opinion right there.

So, my opinion of the things he's done hasn't changed. I just level the problems I have with him squarely at him alone, like everyone else.
I never watched "Dollhouse". Maybe I'll give it a try. Watching Eliza Dushku grace my screen is definitely worth my time. I'd love to see her in a Starfleet uniform sometime.

So Discovery basically gets about 5 separate adventures. That's not a whole lot compared to all the other major crews. It's less than even the Star Trek the animated series. So 5 adventures and the crew is done.

I'm amused that each season of Discovery was a drastic course correction of the previous season.

Also, I'm glad these McDonalds uniforms didn't remain.

Yeah. It's like that didn't have a plan for the show. Yeah those uniforms were terrible. Lol

What i mean is I'm glad they only had 5 adventures. Basically a footnote in star trek when you combine all the adventures all the other crews had. In the first session of TOS the crew had over 25 different distinct missions. That's just one season.
Serialized TV works differently from episodic TV. In order for DSC to have "as many adventures" as TOS, the show would have to run 80 seasons. That was not the goal. That was never the goal. You think this is like reccess and you can be like "My toy's bigger than yours! Neener! Neener! Neener!" Grow up and start acting like an adult for once.

There are great shows with short runs and horrible shows with long runs. More does not automatically equal better.

Season 1 was one way, Seasons 3, 4, and 5 are another way. Season 2 was the transition between the two. Season 2 was also the time that the original showrunners left part-way through and Michelle Paradise was brought on and promoted to Showrunner the following season. The show has had the same voice since she was showrunner. Whatever you think of it, it hasn't changed since then.

But feel free to tell me how Season 4 was some Drastic Course Correction from Season 3...

At least we agree about something. Though these uniforms also only lasted on the crew for a grand total of one scene, so you're just looking for straws to grab at.

80 missions vs 5. Yeah I think that's better snd more of a legacy. STD is not well liked and will never reach the legendary status of the other treks. It's the worst of all live action trek.

And they didn’t go away, we still saw them in use elsewhere like at Fed HQ. Admiral Vance still wore the original colours.

The only reason they changed them was they didn’t film well on the Discovery sets.

Discovery had more than 80 missions. There we’re multiple missions in each season.

Seinfeld worked like that, STD not so much.

And please stop using that childish ‘STD’ acronym.

IMHO the problem with serialized shows is if you screw up the arc (particularly the ending) it spoils all of the episodes to a certain degree that you wouldn't get in an episodic show that farted out a stinker or two.

Whatever other issues DIS had, I think it's beyond question they did screw up the ending of Season 1.

Discovery had just as many adventures as every other crew.

We only just saw 5 of them.

I guess you can think of these as 5 long movies. More than the Kelvin ones got. More than TNG. And technically more than TOS if you're counting 2-4 as one long "adventure".

Not bad for an unknown crew that didn't have a TV series leading into it!
