If you look at the IMDB page it shows Michelle in the same 15 episodes as everyone else.
I dunno if I could really compare Orville vs Discovery,
IMO Orville so far does comedy well. It does have a very clumsy way of handling ethical and social issues. They try to do it ala Trek, but seems to only be "reminiscent" of trek at best.
So far all I've seen Discovery handle is pewpewpewpew and insubordination, and ill advised space walks.
Too bad it wasn't actually Star Trek.I just watched a brand new episode of Star Trek on Fox, and it was awesome.
Looked like Star Trek, sounded like Star Trek, and felt like Star Trek.Too bad it wasn't actually Star Trek.
Not really. Star Trek is a brand, not just a "feeling."Looked like Star Trek, sounded like Star Trek, and felt like Star Trek.
I mean you can keep trying to claim otherwise, but the evidence is kind of against you here.

I've hit a point in life were I don't like labels on things "feeling" a certain way. I don't expect something to "feel" like Star Trek. The closest I could describe it would be looking for more of a sense of adventure an optimism about humanity, so I guess that's as close to "feeling" like Star Trek as I could describe it. Maybe Orville fits that description-personally, I don't think so, even though it is a great and fun show.I think you just hammered home the issue with Trek for a while now. It doesn't matter if something feels like Trek, so long as the ships have nacelles and the people wear delta badges.

So far, from what I've seen, I'm finding that The Orville captures the feel of Trek much better than Discovery.
The biggest "Trek" factor in Discovery is that they can use Trek terminology. Other than that, it's really just ok.
It's not bad. It had some decent action. But from the dark/gritty scenery to the downer plots, this show does not capture the optimism of Trek.
I hate the new Klingons. They only changed the look for the sake of changing the look. I don't think this adds anything. They claim this takes place in the prime universe, 10 years before Man Trap, but it just doesn't fit.
Klingons wouldn't have had cloaking technology yet. The first encounter with cloaked ships was Balance of Terror. And enough with the subtitles. I don't want to read Star Trek.
The creative decision to do a prequel for a pilot was an interesting idea. It would have been like starting TNG with Picard's last mission on Stargazer or Kirk on Farragut.
I liked that.
But I find that the show's dark scenery, bad uniforms, awful Klingons, and inability to fit in the prime universe to be taking the show down.
The Orville on the other hand is surprising me. I would think the show with Braga involved would be the worse one, but in spite of that handicap, I find that The Orville has the right mix of lighting and optimism that really was what Trek was all about.
I don't like 90 percent of the humor. That's the bad part. The show is struggling to decide if it's a comedy. When the show is focusing on adventure and sci-fi, it really is very good.
Of course it benefits from not having continuity issues.
I continue to watch Orville with great interest.
