Diet & Fitness Support Thread

I was in the same softball boat for a long time, no league to fit into anymore. This one should be fun times.

Have a cold today, couldn't sleep last night so got up and went to the gym early. Felt good to move around and it cleared my head. Drove to work at one of my client sites and slept inthe car for an hour. I'll see how the rest of the day goes...
 
I went for a 30 minute jog today, did some core work as well. I haven't gotten any exercise in too long, working out at the gym during the summer depresses me. So, I have planned a compromise: Run outside, go do some nice yoga and strength classes at the gym. I'm not much of a runner, but it'll have to do.
 
I am supposed to do my stairs again tomorrow, but Im not sure if i can fit them in because of the job interview. We'll see. If not i'll make room on wednesday

If you have a job interview tomorrow, then give yourself the day off with stairs. And good luck on the interview. :techman:
 
Thanks. I might do the stairs after the interview depending on how i feel. We'll see when i get home
 
I do my cardio on the cross-trainer and catch up on my TV shows while I do it - so 45 minutes per session.
 
I ran another 5K yesterday. I'm going back to 5 miles as my standard distance as soon as I can get my lazy butt out of the house a bit earlier - it just keeps getting too hot before I'm done!

And in happy diet news, I can comfortably wear my dancing kilt again, which was custom-fitted for me when I was 24 years old. (That was over 20 years ago, for those not keeping track.) :techman:

As for me, just came back from doing 600+ stairs and a 45min walk.
 
Thanks, Hasu and kimc! I actually have the occasion to use that dancing kilt in a couple of weeks, so I'm particularly motivated to fit into it. :)

I did my 5 miles today despite the fact that I started late - I was lucky, and it stayed nicely cool and not too sunny until after noon. Yay.

Yeah, I have no idea how you people do it. I cant run period. I dont even know how people run up those damn stairs I do.

I used to run back when I was in college but then developerd shin splints. Biking and skiing are the cardo activities for me! :)
 
my problem with running is not fitness, it is one of focus. I can only do any sort of distance running, if it is with a television or other distraction in front of me.
 
^Yeah, i am like that on a treadmill. I have started doing my outside runs without an mp3 and it isnt as bad as i thought it would be.

I'm loving our new Y membership! They have a great gym, and the kids are old enough now that they can swim while i use the gym, so at least we are all doing something healthy.

See I can do biking. Skiing Ive never tried but dont know if i have the balance for it. So I stick to stairs and the bike. As long as i have my ipod i am good to go
 
Hmm i dont know about that. I've been known to give myself concussions when walking down a set of stairs ;)
