Diet & Fitness Support Thread

TJ, I guarantee if you don't drink any wine for a month you'd lose at least 5 lbs. At least.

Now that's crazy talk!

 Yeah, you wouldn't want me to bring on the apocalypse, would you? Get serious.

I think I'm going to go kim's way and try cutting down on portion size. Also, if I show some superhuman control and don't eat the fantastically delicious desserts that my teenage daughters insist on baking, that would probably lose me a pound a week right there.

Thanks to all those who said congrats on the weight loss. Ive been meaning to say something but Ive yet to wander back in here =/ But yeah, thanks :)

Had my pilates reformer class last night. Tonight I'll either bike outside if it doesn't rain or do some cardio with light weights.

Well, I'm running today because I have to ... we're a one-car family while my husband is in LA on a business trip, and I have to get the kids to school but then I have to work all day and won't be available to pick them up!

So I have to park the car at the high school for my daughter to get when she gets out at 3 ... and then run home (4.5 miles) and shower in time to walk to work. Pant, pant.

Oh, hey, fitness thread.

I've lost about twenty pounds over the last month and a half (mostly because I quit drinking and stopped snacking), and I've been exercising pretty regularly thanks to a healthy walk to work every day.

However, I rolled my ankle something terrible yesterday, and I can barely walk. Which sucks.

Ouch! Hopefully it will be better in a few days. I pulled a calf muscle over a week ago and could barely walk but it got better each day.

Sorry to hear that JK, give it some rest and anti-inflamatories if needed and I'm sure you'll be back at it soon.

TJ, don't you know nobody walks in LA?

For me, first softball practice went well. Didn't embarass myself too much. second one is next week and then the season starts after that.

Okay, cardio and I have never gotten along, but last night it was really nice outside so I decided to go for a jog.

It was awful. I have absolutely no endurance. Gotta work on that.

The elliptical machine is a great start:bolian:

I have to admit I hate doing cardio on anything but the bikes. I seem to do better as long as I stick with one cardio machine. But everyone has a different preference.

RAMA

I use the bike and swim. I prefer the swim, except when they turn off the heater....

Okay, cardio and I have never gotten along,

I feel you, man. I much prefer hitting the weights.

Although this is probably why I'm at the most strong and muscular point in my life, but also carrying around more bodyfat than I want. :o
Don't worry - before you know it you'll be able to fit in to a cockpit again.

Honey, you weren't complaining as I was bench pressing you the other night.

I was finally able to do those 200+ stairs in one shot yesterday. Bout bloody time.

About the only cardio I like outside of playing hockey or rollerblading is running on the treadmill which I managed to hit twice yesterday incidentally.

I don't even like running outside.

I hate all forms of cardio, but I hate running (outside) less than any of the other forms. My husband can run 10 miles on a treadmill ... I would shoot myself first. And I can't stand to ride a real bicycle, let alone a stationary one. :D

I hate this warmer weather, though. I have to run before 9 AM or wait until it's almost dark if I want to avoid a heat stroke. Bleah.

I love cardio. I love the feeling of the beating of my heart when it hits the cardio zone; I love the endorphin rush; I love the way it makes me feel afterwards. I love the challenge of taking on myself and winning. I just love cardio. After having said that, I hate the thought of cardio. When I know I'm going to the gym after work, or when I'm on my way there, I really don't want to do it. But 10 minutes in and when I get to the right heart rate, I start to love it so much I often have a silly grin on my face! -------->>> :)
