Detained question

So last year I jumped into watching Star Trek Enterprise on Netflix, and I had a little thread on here I was posting my thoughts of each episode on.

Than....I stopped watching.

Last weekend I turned on the Wii, got on Netflix and clicked play on the episode I left off on which happened to be "Detained"

I remember this episode from when it aired and I still have the same question now I did then.

How the hell do you have Al on Sam's new show and not make one Quantum Leap joke???

Seriously, all they would have needed to do is have Archer and Travis pushed into Al's office and had Archer say "hoo boy" looking at all the armed guards standing around.

It fits with the circumstances and for those of us who watched and loved Quantum Leap its a funny nod.

I remember years ago I was watching an episode of Major Dad and the other Simon popped up as his wife's ex.

The two looked one another up and down and said "Do I know you" and than the show went on, it was a great little injoke about Simon and Simon.

Oh well...I should be knocking out season 1 by this weekend.

Seriously? You have to ask?

One word: Bermaga.

Their chief talent as producers of Enterprise: Missed Opportunities.

Probably it was more like "too easy" or "we better not". I guess it is also possible that the actors didn't want to reference their past work.

They did do something. At one point Stockwell grabs a gizmo to look up some info on Archer, just like he was consulting Ziggy.

I wonder if it would have come across as cheesy, like the whole "Star Trek" thing Cochrane said in Star Trek: First Contact. Still, a small "oh boy" in there somewhere would have been nice.

Right? I have to agree that they missed the opportunity just to "play it safe".

Playing it safe = boring.

This.

While talkin' with Archer & Mayweather, Grat is holdin' a little padd-ish thing, and he kept referrin' to it durin' the conversation for information.

Maybe it would have been more obvious if he had stumbled mid-word & smacked the side of it to make it squeal...

Isn't "Oh boy" used later, in the ep where they head back to present day Earth to stop Xindi reptilians (name of the ep escapes me, but it was blood-selling)?

^I believe "oh boy" was used a couple of times, but not by Archer.
