Contrary to what was said before, I don’t hate the Odyssey class design. I just don’t think it’s very original, and I would like to think that someone could make something much better for the next new Enterprise. It’s fine for a generic Starfleet vessel.

It's grand but like a lot of the STO stuff it looks like the kind of thing I drew when I was 13 and making my own ships.

But my big problem of using the Odyssey is its boring to just give us a design we have already seen for the sake of canonizing something. I would prefer to go "wow new ship" when we see the Enterprise if they don't use E

That’s my feeling exactly. That STO design is already ten years old. Even putting aside my opinion that it’s not an original design, I would like to have Starfleet of the year 2400 develop a new Enterprise that looks like nothing that came before it.

I think it was Rick Sternbach who once said that he would have liked for the next generation of Starfleet vessels to have organic parts (and I don’t mean those bio-neural gel packs Voyager had.) That would be neat.

Doug Drexler has said he considered the Ent-J to have been organically grown.

I really, really hope that if we see the Enterprise-F in PIC, that it will be a new design and not something that was made for a video game ten years ago. I would like to have faith that the show’s producers don’t feel beholden to Star Trek Online.

From what I understand, the producer of LDS used the Pocket Books Titan design as a tribute to Sean Torangeau. I don’t see the producers of PIC making such a tribute for the STO Enterprise-F, especially since what the original designer came up with was quite different than the finished product.

That’s fine; you’re entitled to your opinion. To me it doesn’t look different enough from the ship that came before it to justify it being a ‘new’ design. The one thing that all previous Enterprises had in common was that they did not look similar to the previous one (other than the TOS and TMP versions, but even at a distance nobody is going to mistake the two.) It feels unoriginal to me, like a cross between a Sovereign and and Intrepid. It just annoys me that I see tons of original fan-made starship designs on the internet built by very talented people (Bill Krause comes immediately to mind) that look far better than this ship, and rather than utilize that resource, they just went the lazy route. And the ship doesn’t even look good on screen. The artwork of the STO Ent-F posted online for the last 11 years looks better than what I saw in that trailer.

In addition to finding the Odyssey class from STO kind of ugly, I don't even like the idea of having an Enterprise-F in the first place. I'd much rather see the Enterprise-E get one last adventure.

You can read my fan fic about the destruction of the Enterprise E if you want to… bare in mind that this was an angry response to a situation out of my control and is spontaneously written.

It would also never fit in to Matalas canon.
