Contrary to what was said before, I don’t hate the Odyssey class design. I just don’t think it’s very original, and I would like to think that someone could make something much better for the next new Enterprise. It’s fine for a generic Starfleet vessel.

I absolutely hate this idea. Please God just make it someone unconnected I know it won't happen cause everyone has to be related to Spock or something but just give us a random guy

Kinda boring if instead of getting new ships we just keep getting canonised STO stuff

My take on what happened: Worf became captain of the Enterprise-E, and it went really badly for everyone. He was awful, the crew got sick and tired of every day being a good day to die, and the Enterprise ended up being synonymous with failure. The new flagship of the Federation became Voyager, because the whole Delta quadrant thing outshined anything the Enterprise did.
That's why there's a Voyager-J in the 32nd century, but no Enterprise to be seen.

PS: I actually dislike Voyager, but the J in Disco got me thinking about why we should expect the Enterprise to be a thing 900 years hence.

This appears to be too much to ask.

Keep getting? No STO designs have been made canon yet.

Edit: Well, ok the Inquiry is based off an unused concept Eaves designed for a version of Star Trek Online that was never made.

Technically, the Titan was used in STO before it was canonized in LDS. :D

I assumed the weak Starfleet ships at the end of Picard were due to budget constraints. I thought it was absurd that 200+ flagship type vessels show up for one incident, when 25 years ago in battles that decided the future of the federation you would see a handfuls of all types of different vessels. I am sure for the producers it was a minor thing but it definitely didn't go unnoticed.

Time constraints from what we know.

There were 3 designs made for that scene, only 1 made it in.

Well he's part of the art team, not a consultant or advisor. He's going to do what his bosses say to do.

To be fair, his bosses might just tell him he has carte blanche to design whatever he wants, and they’ll probably have very little input into the finished product. I mean, that’s why they hired him in the first place, so that they don’t have to do the work.

Indeed. He’s been doing this stuff for decades (since 1980-ish) and has become the defacto authority on Trek maps and other technology-related materials. IIRC, his maps did wind up in holographic displays on Disco (and Picard, I think?), effectively making them a part of the canon.

Hopefully they’ll visit Kobol on some episode of Lower Decks. :D ;)

Everything goes through the higherups for approval they will give notes on what to change and what to keep, we have evidence of this from the Eaglemoss booklets and John Eaves book.

Mind you that was ship design, what he's doing might be different.

There are two kinds of bosses. There's the kind that hires you for a job because they don't have the time or inclination to do the job themselves (and consequently gives you much greater latitude to actually do the job), and there's the kind that hires you for a job with the intention of constantly micromanaging your work. We'll see which kind of boss the next PIC showrunner turns out to be.

He has some prior Star Trek work.

He worked on 6 episodes of Voyager as an assistant to the producers, and all of Enterprise as a production associate. He wrote and co-wrote 2 episodes of Enterprise Season 3, and Co-wrote the 2012 TNG Hive comic miniseries.
