Which one did they do... bring up canon... or point and laugh?
What if they brought up canon while pointing and laughing?Which one did they do... bring up canon... or point and laugh?

I would decanonize Discovery. Strange New Worlds would explicitly be set in an alternate reality of Trek.
I would decanonize Lower Decks, Star Trek Picard. Basically everything released after Star Trek Enterprise except Strange New Worlds.
Project Hail Mary is the rare exception.Project Hail Mary, Backrooms and Obsession would like to say hi.
why? don't you think one mary sue is enough?I vote to de-canonize the first few minutes of "Time Squared" because Riker doesn't know the difference between an omelette and scrambled eggs.
Backrooms and Obsession were independent films, not Hollywood productions.
"Happy talk, keep talking happy talk, talk about things you'd like to do. You've got to have a dream, if you don't have a dream, how you gonna have a dream come true." It won't come true, though.
if they had done that in the 60s there'd be no trek but a ton of stan & olli rebootsHave you seen anything coming out of Hollywood in the last decade? They don't do "new" anymore.
I don't understand what you are saying.
He’s saying your dream of erasing the Trek you dislike is never going to happen. (At least that’s how it reads to me).I don't understand what you are saying.
As much as I would enjoy seeing most of the kurtzman era wiped from existence, it wouldnt be fair to those who enjoy it.
That's fandom. You are also likely attracting a higher than normal share of neural divergence in the mix too.Indeed. It's insane how people can literally get upset because of a difference in appearance of a made up alien species. And not just that.... Spend hours debating it online, or back in the, fanzines. Not for fun, but for real. As in, they consider it AS important or more than real life political and social issues.
This. Because one day it's something I don't like, the next it's something I do like.Decanonization of anything is a terrible idea. Once that ball starts rolling, it won’t stop.

Different timelines is the way to go. "It happened, just somewhere else!"
I go by what I see. "Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow" says Khan was a kid in the 2020s Canada, and "Space Seed" says he was an adult in the 1990s and on the other side of the world.Ah. So, what are you going to do when the canonical continuity says, nope, those things happened in the same timeline, not different ones?!
different timelines are sooooooooo non-canonicalI go by what I see. "Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow" says Khan was a kid in the 2020s Canada, and "Space Seed" says he was an adult in the 1990s and on the other side of the world.
Cue someone who says, "Yeah but... "
I attribute changes to the mid-23rd Century to the result of Temporal War shenanigans.
Cue someone who says, "Yeah but... "
To do otherwise is akin to ignoring what evidenence tells me in favor of "but it's been decreed by the state that..." In the 19th Century, when Darwin theorized that evolution happened based on the evidence, he was met with resistance from people said, "But the Church says..." which was the equalivalent of saying "But the authority from above says... "
I go by evidence, not by "the word of God" or "the word of Gene" or "the word of the authorities" or someone who says "it's right even though it's proven wrong".
This is the point where arguing about Canon becomes the same as arguing about Religion or Science vs. Religion.
Which means that I place DSC (which I like), SNW (which I don't like), and SFA (which lost me) in the same Timeline.
It also means I place ENT (which I don't like) and TOS through VOY (which I do like) in the same Timeline. As well as PIC since it's supposed to be a continuation of those shows.
And the Kelvin Films in a third timeline.
"What about the animated series?" Don't know, don't care. Whatever works.
The number of timelines can be broken down even further without a doubt (much further in fact) but, to keep things simple, I'll stick with the basic three.
Cue the people who disagree with me. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I've heard it all before. To those people: you're not changing my mind, I'm not changing yours, so let's not get into this and pretend we did. Thanks! Very much appreciated.

In that case, let’s have a real chaos party with everything TMP on.TNG. What if they ended up doing the original movie plan, use Saavik and David as the "Next Generation" and have them take over the movie franchise...
It was a frivolous musical response to the post where you said you want to decanonize a lot of stuff, quoting the song "Happy Talk" from the musical South Pacific. I quoted a song lyric about having dreams. I said the dream of decanonizing won't come true.
He’s saying your dream of erasing the Trek you dislike is never going to happen. (At least that’s how it reads to me).
