DC to REBOOT???

The problem with updating the Daily Planet/ work environment is one of interaction. To be true, in this modern age it would be more likely that Clark would work out of his home posting articles to a website. But then what good is that story telling wise? He would most likely never even meet Lois in this case, never mind Jimmy or Perry. I think the best compromise might be to shrink the Daily Planet down from a monolithic news paper office to more of a small office based news reporting sight. Maybe have just "The Chief", and a hand full of reporters/ photographers that maintain an online news source aimed at websurfers and the growing number of tablet users.

Or better yet, make the Daily Planet DC's version of Yahoo/Google. a massive company with a huge web presence. This way you can still explain away the huge office building with the globe on top. Instead of "google it" in the DC universe they might use "search the planet" or some such. Yeah, that could be cool.

Yeah, that sounds cool. I won't take a newly "modernized" Superman seriously until they do something about the Daily Planet.

The entire reason Superman works at the Daily Planet was because in the old days, news paper were information hubs. This allowed him to get info on a variety of things that were a job for Superman. Crime, fires, volcano's, a meteor, rampaging robot in Washington, D.C. Etc.

Nowadays, you can get info on the net almost immediately. Growing up in this day and age, with all the cultural influences and tech, Superman would probably just surf CNN, MSNBC, FOX or FARK. Or he could work for a major metropolitan online news service. Although realistically, he'd prolly just do his own blog so he wouldn't have to worry about Perry being a dick or Lois being a bitch to him.

I love the old Daily Planet concept as much as the next guy....but as long as it's in there as a newspaper, they ain't taking the whole "modernize" thing too seriously.

Newspapers are dying as fast as comic books.

I have a feeling that Lois isn't going to be ignored, but like Dennis stated relegated to "normal" supporting cast status. To be honest as much as I hate the thought of the marriage being dissolved...Lois has been supporting cast status over the last couple of years since Clark has been away. Something that I've not liked. Weird. I thought this would be the last straw for me in the Superman family books...but I'm still interested in what they're doing with them. It will take boring stories for me to stop reading as I did in the late 90's and early 2000's.

OK, silly question. I know the relaunch will be labeled as "September" issues, but what will be the actual release dates? In my experience most periodicals are dated a month or two ahead of the actual release.

I'm thinking that they'll just be getting rid of the Clark/Lois marriage, but not necessarily the relationship. That relationship has become such a huge part of the public image of Superman that I find it very hard to believe they'd get rid of it completely. Backing it up a few steps, yes, but getting rid of it completely.... no, that would be just stupid. But that's not to say people haven't done stupid stuff like that before, I just like to try to be optimistic when it comes to this kind of stuff.

The actually cover date will say, Nov 2011.

Unless they change that too,

I'm with Myasischev here, the idea that they need to break up the Superman/Lois Lane marriage becuase "young people won't like it" is headbangingly stupid. This isn't "One More Day" level which was just a big "FUCK YOU!" to the Spidey/MJ marrigae, but it's still obnoxious. What are they gonna do, show the entire relationship progress from meeting to from dating to... awkwardly dating for years (because we wouldn't want them to get married... noooo that would be terrible)?
It would be pretty hilarious if they magicked away the marriage, then immediately had them get married and/or cohabit again, because it's the obvious thing to do once they've had sex for a couple of years, which would begin basically immediately following Kent moving to Metropolis, because it's not 1938. And because pink kryptonite probably doesn't canonically exist.

End the marriage? Haven't they learned anything from that Spider-Man "Brand New Day" debacle? Already rethinking buying the new superman books, again.

Seriously, they got "Earth One" with Superman as a single. Why would we need TWO Superman in seperate ongoing universes that are basically the same?

Earth One could be considered bi-annual if the second volume is still coming out. JMS interestingly enough hasn't given an update since the announcement of the relaunch was made. Batman: Earth One seems to be MIA.

The reboot may have derailed a lot of plans.

I'm fine with them unmarrying Lois and Clark. They weren't married for most of the time that I bought Superman on a monthly basis, so I can't miss it that much.
