DC Teases The Return of the Black Lanterns Wait...What?

It seems like any concept that is marginally successful will be rehashed to death by DC. Coming soon: Yet another Crisis!

Yeah, having just read 100 Black Lantern comics... I think the idea's been done. Hopefully this is just the ressurected guys going BL very briefly before being cured.

Yeah, cuz it's not like Marvel hasn't beaten Deadpool or X-Men into the ground, far more in excess of anything DC's ever done! :guffaw::guffaw::guffaw:

Deadpool
Deadpool Corps
Deadpool Team-Up
Deadpool Pulp
Uncanny X-Force (Deadpool on team)

or how about these X-Books shipping in Sept.....

Origins of Marvel Comcis: X-Men
X-Men
X-Men: Curse of the Mutants - Smoke and Blood
X-Men: Curse of the Mutants - X-Men vs Vampires
Wolverine: The Road To Hell
Wolverine
X-23
Daken: Dark Wolverine
Uncanny X-Men
X-Men Legacy
New Mutants
X-Factor
X-Force: Sex and Violence
New Mutants Forever
X-Men Forever

Holy Crap! That's probably half of Image or Dark Horse's entire line right there!! I remember when the X-Men were actually cool. They had one, and only one, X-book.....The Uncanny X-Men.

(The blurb for that months issue of Wolverine states: "the only Wolvering series for this month!" otherwise this list would be longer.)

This is Marvel doing this on a MONTHLY basis.....as opposed to every few YEARS and doing a "Crisis". And DC only did two "Crisis" books in the modern era, as opposed to the annual events during the 60's and 70's....so they were hardly beating anything into the ground with the new ones.

Bottom line, Marvel is far more egregious in the "rehasing anything marginally successful to death" category than DC.:guffaw:

Yeah I've always felt each company has too many books and too many scattered storylines. X-Men is the worse. Pretty soon they're going to have to do what they did in the early 2000's and hire a marquee writer to take over the main book like when they hired Morrison and make it the flagship title. I've not read an X-Men book since Joss finished his run. I'd prefer if there was only "X-Men" and "Uncanny X-Men" and maybe one or two mini-series. The rest of them I have no interest for.

I've no interest in this new Black Lantern storyline...

You forgot to also list all the various Spider-man titles from back in the day. ;)

"Back in the day?" Hell I couldn't list them all NOW. :) I saw a book called "Peter Parker"....yeah, it's logo looked like the one we saw on Amazing Spider-Man...but instead said "Peter Parker". That's it.

As for Blackest Night....it wasn't that great to begin with....and in the end it was just Bloated Night. In fact I recently offered to give a friend of mine ALL of my Blackest Night related comics, and I gave him all the ones I could easily find....and holy crap it was a big stack....I still have more! :scream:

Hell, I find that the comics I'm selling at Half Price Books all come from the last five years or so.....and that's when I don't use them as wrapping paper at christmas because I keep forgetting to buy wrapping paper.

I didn't believe for one moment that we were done with the Black Lanterns, but I did expect at least a year before their return.

The idea of different Lantern Corps in general is too good for DC to lock away in a safe, IMO...

Well they're continuing to use all the other Rainbow Corps in the books. I was just hoping the Black Corps would go away, because zombies are so done to death.

Vampires and Zombies (I can't wait to see the I'm a Marvel Vampire, I'm a DC Zombie skit that's surely to come). Just because I'm bored here are all the Spider-Man books that I remember from the 90's (and since it's my thread I think I'm entitled to hijack it)

Amazing Spider-Man
Spectacular Spider-Man (used to avoid this like the plague due to hating the art)
Web of Spider-Man
Spider-Man (Todd McFarland's book which later became)
Peter Parker:Spider-Man

Those were the four main books. There have been others of course.

Well, DC has its head up its ass when it comes to these endless 'Crises' they always keep trotting out (they always need a new Crisis because they never finish tying up the loose ends from the last one) so I guess this is no different. :brickwall:

To be fair, it's looked pretty clear from the promos for Brightest Day that this was exactly where it was going.

Yeah...I just thought DC would wait a year or so before pulling them back out after just ending the mini-series. As for the Crisis's...."Final Crisis" was supposed to be the last one but that doesn't mean they can't bust out a mega event that spans the entire DC Universe and not call it a crisis...I suspect they'll just do events like "Blackest Night" or "War of the Supermen" over the next few years until they do decide to cook up another crisis and reset things.

Obviously they'll do epic mega crossovers until the end of time... I think the "Final" Crisis just meant an end to the continuity-altering threat-to-the-multiverse type stories. Which is funny since Final Crisis didn't alter any continuity at all! :p

During the late 60's, 70's and early 80's they generally did a two or three part "Crisis" story each summer. Then the tradition died. Sooo......since the yearly summer event has been dead since '85, and the word "Crisis" has been used in two, and only two big events in the last fifteen years or so, and they were spread apart....what are these "endless" Crisis' that you're going on about?

Keep in mind, big Mega-Events do not count as a "Crisis" unless the word itself is in it. Mega-Events are done by both companies on a yearly basis these days. So, list them.
