Damn! It's hot!

I used to live in the Ohio River Valley, the capital of humidity (unofficially ), and was really shocked this past week when we got some humidity here in Oregon at how unpleasant it was. Back in Ohio I had air conditioning to deal with it, here I can't justify the expense for the 1-2 weeks a year that it's hot. So I just kind of sat and sweated for a few days. It's cooled down now though, so I'm happy. :techman:

we cooled down for a couple of days due to rain.
but now the higher temps are back and the humidity is worse.
:p

Let me put it this way ... it's a promo for the nightly news: "Well, we might actually be under 100 for day, but then it's back up."

Yeah, 7-day forecast is all triple-digits. Again.

Don't remind me. The lowest it's going to be in the next 6 days is 109 according to www.azcentral.com and it will be 116 on Thursday and Friday.

So far, July has been 6° C (about 11 F) hotter than normal here and rainfall is at 1/7 normal. :(

CA is almost always under drought conditions--but supposedly, this last winter was great for rain. And we had record snowfall in the Sierras this past winter, IIRC. That's why I want to go on a day trip to Yosemite in August! Enjoy the cooler weather, the fresh air, and the waterfalls. Have lunch at the Ahwanee. Make it a day off!

I just spent a little over 24 hours in southern Georgia. The humidity in MD sucks, but GA is absolutely worse. Why would anyone want to live down there?!

We finally got some relief around here. Low 70s all day, breezy, and some rain.

A huge storm just blew through town. Not quite as bad as the one that prompted me to start this thread, but close. 70 MPH winds, several inches of rain. Some people's power is still out. They say it would have been worse, including hail, if it hadn't already been up in the 90's all day.

Holy Heatwave, Batman!

It's a breezy 107 today in the Big Tomato.

I poured McDonald's coffee on my lap to cool off!

:scream:

It's three hours past midnight and with windows open on all sides it's still 25 °C in my living room

(ETA: first time within the last 24 hours I switched the ventilator on!)

103 F/40 C today

Wears you out when you're actualy working in it.

*headkeys*

never heard of the Big Tomato. Where'zat at?

^While I must admit to having to look that up myself, I'm very, very surprised you haven't heard it called that before given what you're showing in your loc field.

High was supposed to be 115 today. Ugh.

Currently 111.

It's supposed to cool down from here on out. The local weather nitwit I was listening to this evening said it's doubtful we'll see 115 again this year.

Don't know if I believe them or not (they'd had today predicted at 116 yesterday among other things), but azcentral has us at 115 tomorrow.

the California capital did cross my mind, but I wasnt sure.

Indeed, I was referring to Sacramento.

In the summer the freeways used to be littered with tomatoes that fell out of delivery trucks going to the Hunt's factory (which is now closed).

I had several fraternity brothers who drove those trucks for summer jobs.

I'm wondering, are all those people who called climate change fake after it snowed in DC last winter now reconsidering their position in light of the current heatwave? ;)
