Contemporary Anime/Manga in the vein of Gundam/Macross?

No, it's a little more sophisticated than that and like I said it's handled very well and tactfully. It's disturbing yes, but it also just....works. The only way to get what I mean is to watch it really. Me trying to explain the unexplainable won't help.

Alright, you sold me...

*goes to acquire*
Yeah, that's what I did first too, when my curiousity got the better of me. Then after much mulling it over in my head I decided I liked it and bought it on DVD after that Geneon fiasco last year when all the sales on their items sprouted up. Got the boxset for dirt cheap.

Conversations are like that, and this one thus far has been a good one.

More on Topic, I recieved my Votoms DVDs today. It's interesting so far, though I only had time to watch a few episodes of it.

I can't help but laugh at the evolution of this thread.
Ya sorry about that!:D me( Mostly me), zakkrusz and clint g are the guilty parties in changing the conversation from mech to ''FAMILY LOVE''! You have to admit thou, it HAS been an INTREGING conversation!:vulcan:

Well, here's a question, what's a series with a decent love triangle?
As you can see in my (ooooold) av, I'm a sucker for that stuff and Macross Frontier fulfilled that need as well.

^Hrrm..? Tenchi Muyo? Tenchi in Tokyo? Sorry ''Romance'' isn't my ''thing'' and I only bring up the Tenchi series because I saw them on ''TOONAMI'' all those years ago, and I remember almost ''EVERY'' woman catfighting over him!( typical male fantasy I geuss)?

Are you looking for strait romance? Or do you want it in a sci-fi/action show?

If it's the former, than the previously mentioned Suzuka would do it. There's Suffle! (but that's closer to a harem).

There's Kimi ga Nozomu Eien which is one of those shows everyone must see once.

And, then there's School Days which pretty much blows the whole preconceived "Love Triangle" paradigm out of the water.

If you want action, I mentioned VanDread back at the beginning of the thread. Has a pretty good one--though it's mosty one-sided. Of course, FMP (which has gotten a lot of discussion here already) has a fantastic love triangle.

I wouldn't mind it in an action scifi setting, but I guess that doesn't matter too much.
Maybe I need to get into FMP at some point though. Suzuka just sounds too mean spirited.

After Moribito was canned there was nothing left on AS for me anymore that I hadn't already seen, so I just stopped tuning in. Ended up just being impatient and finishing Moribito myself through alternate means.

I would recomend (Especially those in bold):

Good love triangles:
Rumbling Hearts (also known as Kimi ga Nozomu Eien)
Kimagure Orange Road
Suzuka

Other Good Romances:
Ai Yori Aoshi
Chobits

Clannad/Clannad: After Story
His and Her Circumstances
Kanon (2006)
Maison Ikkoku
Oh! My Goddess/Ah! My Goddess Seasons 1 and 2
REC
Shuffle!

Stuff that is in other genres but features it prominently:
Aquarian Age-Sign For Evolution
Beck
Blue Gender
Buso Renkin
Crest of the Stars/Banner of the Stars 1-3
Eureka 7
Fate/Stay Night
Kara no Kyoukai
Kannazuki no Miko (it's about two lesbians though :) )
Kemonozume
Lunar Legend Tsukihime
My-HIME
Planetes
RahXephon
Ryoko's Case Files
Speed Grapher
Vampire Knight/Vampire Knight: Guilty
Vision of Escaflowne

Notice all of them were in my top 100 list somewhere? Yeah I'm also a sucker for romance in a series.

depends on what you want in romance, if you want something crazy go with Love Hina, if you want something more grounded, (and with boobies) go with Ai Yori Aoshi

Love Hina maybe something like a staple of of anime, but it's not exactly romantic, heck it's not even the best harem comedy series either. As for "boobies" you can find those in more abundance in the 3 Ikki Tousen series and Tenjho Tenge, the ultimate series for guys.

why is AS rerunning Code Geass back to R2 episode 1? :klingon:
:wtf: I know what your talking about. I tune in and BAM! not one, but ''TWO'' reruns!? AS is nothing more than but a bunch of :censored: They don't even try to do new animations, there doing this ''Delocated'' ''Tim & Eric'' CRAP! I'm amazed they haven't cancelled ''Venture Bros or Squidbillies'' yet! (the only ''GOOD'' original AS work still on)

why is AS rerunning Code Geass back to R2 episode 1? :klingon:

1. Because they hate us/anime fans/anime in general
2. maybe the dubbing company might need more time to dub it.
3. because they're planning on sending it into trash can like Moribito

Or any combination thereof. Take your pick, as your guess is as good as mine. No one doth know what goes through the minds of AS Execs and they never make any attempt to explain any of their bassackwards actions. :shifty:

I gave up on adult swim many years ago, back when they decided it would be funny to insert random noises into their anime on april fools day :borg:
