Grade the trailer

No, and it is an unreasonable claim to say acting can be judged in anything but the final product.

And what you see in a trailer is not "usually in the final cut". Quite the oppose. Many trailers contain footage and dialogue that is not in the finished film and special effects in trailers is NEVER the final, completed VFX. To the untrained eye of the audience it might look it, but it isn't. This is a fact in movie and television projects.
Most of what you see in the trailer is usually in the final cut. There was bad acting in the trailer.

Exactly. I'm saying that I hope Yeoh's influence will get "Shenzhou" pronounced passably right.

Meh, as a Mandarin speaker, I don't really like this rendition, but I guess it passes.

Your original post made it seem like Yeoh saying "Shenzhou" might make you cringe. It wasn't clear you meant the rest of them,

See posts above. Abridged version: the ship has a Chinese name. Non-Chinese people might say it wrong.

AsI said above it was not clear from the original post that the person was talking about the other cast members.

Along the way I mistakenly believed you to be the original poster of that comment, hence why I directed my last question at you. ;)

Sorry for the misunderstanding. :) We get a bit shouty around here, but it's not personal. Discussing stuff is fun.

Repeating the same thing over and over doesn't make it true.

Only an unreasonable person would claim to be able judge acting, story, etc. from this small collection of clips.

It simply is not possible. This is fact.
Only an unreasonable person would claim that it's impossible to spot bad acting in a trailer. The trailer itself has bad acting in it.
I agree about not being able to judge the story from a trailer.

You can't judge the acting in the trailer by and large because it's very clearly been butchered for editing. I repeat, the dialogue spoken in the first scenes is very clearly audio and visual taken from different scenes. You can hear the chops in the audio. Context is completely destroyed.

Now you are not even making the effort to assemble your own sentences.

You cannot judge performances from a video like this. It is simply not possible no matter how much you claim it.

No need for apology. What I meant was that the mistake was mine - I had misread the original post and then got my wires crossed about who was who here.;)

Yeah, but I have a tendency to flail without meaning it, too, as if you were under any obligation to know who posted what and when. Anyway, back to the topic, I think most of us will agree that it's better when people know how to pronounce the names of their own ships. XD

Some of it is, but not all, which is common for a trailer.

The stiff awkward vocal delivery sticks out like a sore thumb. It's Anthony Montgomery level acting.

I watched the video I thought the new aliens looked like interesting characters. I like the new Starfleet Uniforms.. When it comes to the Klingons look being changed they look more like reptilian Xindi than the we saw Klingons in Tng or Ds9.
