Of course you're entitled to this opinion but I really don't see it. They look very much like Klingons to me. All the same basic design cues, ridges, skin colour, armour. They're certainly no greater changed than the Klingons were in TMP (or indeed after that movie). No, it's not about smooth vs. bumpy. It's the overall look. Take a Klingon from any other series and look at the klingons here and it's really really different. Yes I anticipated updating to 2017 production, but these guys look nothing like Klingons.

If so, awesome. Klingon makeup came pretty close to blackface more than once.I feel weird for saying this, but the Klingons in the trailer look like they're like, really dark African black guys in Klingon makeup instead of white guys in brown Klingon makeup.

Please tell me I'm not the only one who thought of Sarah Michelle Gellar when reading thisI have no problem with SMG's acting either
Here's the thing:
ST:TMP: First time the Klingons looked different from the Star Trek TV series Klingons, and the first time we heard the Klingon language spoken.
STIII:TSFS: Second time we see Klingons AND these Klingons look very different from how they looked in ST:TMP
ST:TNG TV Series: Third time we really see Klingons - and they do look similar to STIII:TSFS Klingons. Klingon look becomes in general more consistent (some minor changes season to season with Worf. We also see Klingon blood is in fact red in TNG: "Redemption II" - when Worf cerimoniously cuts ghimself as his family honor is restored
STVI:TUC: Here we have Klingons again, but they do look (again) quite different from pervious Klingon versions - and here their blood is pink.
ENT: Klingons here look like TNG style Klingons again.
My point? Even in the so called 'Prime' Universe sorry, but the 'Klingon look' from ST:TMP on has never been consistent.

That begs the question, why is it that the Klingons seem to be the only alien race in Star Trek that have changed a lot over time. I don't think any other race has changed as much as the Klingons have. Take for instance the Vulcans. What if the Vulcan look had changed in this series, what would the reaction be?
At least I wasn't the only one going in the wrong directionMaybe it's because I like guns (aesthetic appearance and the discipline of shooting them, no violent things whatsoever), but I thought of this ...
