Chris was 27 in this screen cap, and Bill was ten years older at 37 in this cap from "Enterprise Incident," aired in September 1968. But he hadn't been in a bar fight the night before, as far as I know.

Jeri and GFS, those are great comparison pictures. Thanks for posting them. That last picture of Chris walking with his shirt off made me laugh. He has a scowl on his face that looks like he walked by something that didn't smell very good. Lol. Also, he is apparently endearingly knock-kneed. How cute is that. <giggle>
I watched Surrender Dorothy last night, not knowing what to expect since Chris plays a gay character in it. I liked the movie more than I expected - it's very sad but really nicely acted by the whole cast. I watched some of the scenes afterwords with the audio commentary turned on so I could hear the director and Diane Keaton (who stars in it and is an executive producer on the movie) discuss the different scenes mainly to hear what either of them had to say about Chris. When Chris makes his appearance in the film the director said to Diane that here's where Chris enters and that she and Chris bonded during the film. Diane Keaton said that they did, and she loved how funny he was. She said some really nice things about him. I loved that and of course that's what I was hoping to hear. Lol. In one scene in the movie the young cast are sitting around a table in the back yard drinking and eating and Diane Keaton said she really liked this part because they all were adlibbing their lines and it was great. That really makes the scene even more fun to watch. One thing for certain, Chris Pine is not afraid to stretch himself as an actor and that's really amazingly awesome.

Put my vote in that column. I don't think I'd seen those Bill pictures before; thanks!Pam, I have that movie; thanks for reminding me about the extra tracks. I always forget those. Not a fan of extra tracks generally; they usually bore me to tears. I start yawning; and then the tears come out, and my eyes get so blurry I can't see. But probably not in this case.
I am still working on "Confession." I only got a few more minutes on it yesterday. But now that you remind me, I will have to see if it's got any interesting extra tracks.I was counting up Chris's feature films; and with "Unstoppable," that makes eleven so far.

Randi, did you see the Chris/Bill comparison pictures on the last couple pages?
I finished watching "Confession" last night, including all the extras -- and I saw that scene you especially like. I will have to try to get a screen cap of Chris pulling his shirt off.
I was surprised at all the young people they had making that movie. It was almost like a masters' thesis for all of them. The guy who did the music -- Ryan Shore -- was "Winner of the first ever Elmer Bernstein Scoring Award," and is the nephew of composer Howard Shore, who won an Oscar for Lord of the Rings music.
The movie wasn't phenomenal or anything, but it does have people in it and working on it that have potential. I agree with this person at the IMDb below. Oh, yeah, Cameron Daddoo -- the priest -- was a real hottie. I didn't realize until the extra track that he was Australian.
"The cast is variable but generally fine, especially Australian actor Cameron Daddo and young Chris Pine, allowing us to understand the rites of the Church without condescension. The cinematography is moodily atmospheric and the musical score by Ryan Shore admixes ecclesiastic tones with contemporary mood music. Given that this is a first film for Myers it is one worth examining for the potential it carries."
In other news, from the Chris-alert mailbag this morning there is a post mortem newspaper article on finishing up filming of "Unstoppable" in Pennsylvania ("After 'Unstoppable,' Tyrone on board for more film roles"), where the populous gives two thumbs up to the filming experience and one lady says, "We enjoyed having them," she said. "It was a wonderful experience."
Another mention of Chris Pine: The Blade Itself: "Chris Pine, who stepped into the spotlight after his Star Trek appearance, is said to be in talks as one of the lead stars in The Blade Itself. The screenplay was penned by Bostonian Ben Affleck and his partner Sean Bailey, and is said to be making its way into production shortly. The story is based on the novel written by Marcus Sakey that centers around two good friends, Evan and Danny, who are split up when one goes to prison. After seven years the pals reunite, contemplating a return back to a life of crime."

Pine's Kirk is a more immature version of Shatner's, as is expected. He thinks and then acts in some cases, jumping into the middle of a fight in others. Even before he joins Starfleet, we can see an underlying battle inside him about living up to his father's reputation. Shatner's Kirk is a ladies man, a shoot-first-and-ask-questions-later type of commander. This Kirk is identical in every way; indeed, he tries to bed Uhura early on...

Dane Whitman was born in Gloucester, Massachusetts and is best known as the modern-day Black Knight, continuing a legacy that began in medieval England. The first Black Knight, Whitman's ancestor Sir Percy of Scandia, lived during the reign of King Arthur. Percy's murder at the hand of his nemesis Modred began a string of successors, all of them Percy's descendants.
It was revived by Whitman's uncle Nathan Garrett, who became the supervillain Black Knight II. After being mortally wounded during a battle with Iron Man, he escaped to his estate, summoned his nephew to confess his crimes, and asked him to restore honor to their family legacy and atone for Garrett's misdeeds.
Pine is perfect for The Black Knight, not only is he a spitting image of him, he's a great actor. Yeah i know he's the new Captain Kirk and the new Jack Ryan too! But Black Knight's not a massive role, he will only have a cameo in this, just like (i hope) Black Widow only has a cameo in the "Avengers" feature film. Anyway Chris Pine is Dane Whitman, The Black Knight.

Which reminds me...i hadnt seen it between Chris and his dad until this past weekend...i was watching something (of course now i cannot remember what it was) that Chris's dad was in...and OMG...yes. I saw the likeness immediately this time. The eyes especially.

Ohmigod moment: I just finished reading today's Daily Variety at work and flipped it over after reading the back page and there on the very back is a big picture of Chris Pine. Whoa!! My heart is still pounding - talk about unexpected. It's a full page ad for Small Town Saturday Night and the picture is of a really cute smiling Chris. It's an ad for AFM and says Coming Soon. I sure hope so. If I can scan it (it's really big) I'll try to post a picture of it tonight.

My favorite is the speech-writer answer. Very interesting.

- I love Italian food.
- I love pasta and red wine.
- I love sashimi. I love the sake beer. I had plum wine last night for the first time, which was fantastic.
- Unagi. (aside: Unagi is japanese for eel. It's a delicacy, and you can get it in japanese and sushi restaurants -- usually grilled with sweetish terriyaki sauce.)
- Albacore.
- I love basketball and baseball, and I played both those sports when I was growing up. But I was never good enough to -- I always wanted to play professionally in baseball; but I wasn't good enough.
- My favorite movie... This is a very difficult question, but I would say off the top of my head -- nothing new here: the Godfather, Ferris Bueller's Day Off; and I guess most recently I'd pick In Bruges.
- When I was in school in my film appreciation class, we studied Akira Kurosawa; but that's pretty much the extent of my knowledge of Japanese cinema, unfortunately.
- This is my first time in Tokyo.
- I heard there was a ramen museum somewhere in Tokyo, so I'm planning on visiting the ramen museum -- because in Los Angeles, there's a big Japanese community; and one of my favorite restaurants is a ramen bar.
- I guess my image of Japan before I came here was that I knew Tokyo was very large; and I guess the only point of comparison I had was Manhattan. But upon coming here, it's even bigger (gestures out to there).
- Started acting when I was 18. I was studying English, and my English teacher -- as a part of a class -- wanted to put on a play. So, I did that; and I really, really began to do it in college when I was 18 or so.
- I love Gary Oldman... I guess: Gary Oldman; Daniel Day Lewis; Sean Penn, right now. And in the past: Paul Newman; Brando.
- Right now I really like Paul Greengrass; and I would love to work with P.T. Anderson; Scorcese -- obviously; J.J. Abrams, who I've already worked with.

- If I was on a deserted island, what would I take with me? I would take my girlfriend (chuckle); and I guess -- my iPod, maybe. Yeah -- some food would be good, too; and some water.
