Getting back to work on the "Confession" album...

Those are great. I ordered Confession from Amazon and it's been shipped so I can't wait to see it after seeing these lovely pictures. Even with the bouffant hair style he looks cute. He does have great hair.

I just checked www.smalltownsaturdaynight.com and it's up again. I was wondering because in the AFM ad for the film from yesterday they had the website listed. It didn't work last night but it's open again. I hope that means it sold and we'll get to see it soon. There's not much on the website but you can get on their email list to be notified when they have photos, etc.

You won't be sorry. There's plenty of Chris in "Confession," since he's the star. He's pretty much in every scene. It was made in 2005, so he was 25. His birth year makes the math so easy. 1980.

I clicked on your link, and only the front page is working for me. They are probably still working on it. I couldn't get the email list request to load; but I will check back.

Here's a link to an interesting interview with Chris that someone just sent me which I hadn't seen before. From the LA Times blogs:

I like this bit! Thanks for the link. :)

"...Wearing a trucker hat, battered blue jeans and an air of breezy confidence, Chris Pine walked through the Paramount Pictures studio lot like he owned the place but felt no particular need to show anyone the deed in his pocket.

It’s precisely that mix of fighter-pilot cockiness and surfer-dude Zen that you would expect from an actor who, as the leading man in “Star Trek,” has taken on the biggest challenge of any popcorn-movie star this summer: How to play James T. Kirk without imitating the role’s originator, William Shatner?

“That’s it right there, that’s the challenge,” Pine said on that November afternoon after a screening of early footage from the film, which opens on Friday, May 8. “If I can do that, then we’re good...”

I like this part, too:

On a recent afternoon, Pine sat down for lunch amid the hectic swirl of La Petit Greek on Larchmont Boulevard. He wasn’t asked for any autographs, but that may be happening quite a bit in the days to come. He is the son of Robert Pine, an actor with 4 1/2 decades of film and television work whom many people might remember as Sgt. Joseph Getraer on “CHiPs.” He said his father passed on some sage advice about the walk between the dressing room and the camera.

“Whenever you’re on set with people that have put in the years, pick their brains — that’s our apprenticeship, that’s how the trade gets passed down, the stories, the lessons,” Pine said. “I think with my family and my background, I have a sense of the history of the business, what has come before. ... Going with my dad to his auditions, I would listen to the actors talk, and it was almost like workers in a steel town on lunch break talking about the line or union issues.”

Yeah; love that! I said some time ago that his was a working-class acting family, so I guess I had the right bead on that one. I sometimes wonder how he wound up the star of a number of indies like he did; but he must have a grass-roots network of people who know him and whom he knows.

Got the back cover of Daily Variety scanned. It's a little cut off on the sides but at least we were able to scan the actual trade instead of a black and white copy.

Oh, my! That is impressive. Going to drag that onto the desktop right away. Thanks for your determination and hard work, Pam! So, what do you think it means? Am I going to be able to see it here in Chicagoland, for example.

I guess that depends to some extent upon the wheeling and dealing that happens at AFM. I hadn't been familiar with this event before (despite having lived down the street from it for a couple of years) but it's described in the Wikipedia entry as less a film festival and more an indie-film trade show. The release schedule and distribution deal for the film could well be worked out during the event.

I don't know much about the AFM but here's a link I just found.

Hopefully we'll hear something eventually about the movie. At least it's not in limbo any more. It's bound to come out eventually.

I just got a book today from Amazon titled "Hell Is Other Parents" by Deborah Copaken Kogan. She's the mother of Jacob Kogan (little Spock) and an author. She wrote some about her time on the Star Trek set with her son and this part jumped out at me:

"Jacob would be spending most of his time either in the school trailer, completing his requisite four hours of school-work a day, or in the gym tent set up on the outskirts of base camp to train him and Chris Pine, the new Kirk, one of the most arrestingly beautiful humans in our solar systems.
I'd sit on a folding chair in that tent with my laptop and noise-canceling headphones, trying to work while Jacob mastered the basics of movie combat -- how to fall forward on his forearms, to avoid damage to his face and chin; how to throw a fake punch so the camera doesn't see it; how to maneuver out of an attack with a backward somersault -- when suddenly, in would stride Pine, all six feet of him, wearing nothing but a pair of gym shorts. He'd jump rope. He'd run laps around the tent. He'd spar with a trainer, his hairless chest glistening with beads of sweat. I tried to ignore this young man, in the prime of his beauty, just as thoroughly as he ignored over-the-hill, dumpy, big-nosed me, but -- here's to you, Mrs. Koganson! -- my powers of concentration were no match for such pheromones. Not a single word I managed to eke out in that gym ever made it into this book."

Lol. Boy, can I relate to her feelings. Too bad mindmelds aren't possible. The woman could make a fortune. <sigh>

Oh, very cool; thanks, M'!

...Chris Pine, the new Kirk, one of the most arrestingly beautiful humans in our solar systems.
That about says it! Gawd, what a great resource you found, there, Pam. We have to hang onto that quote. Can I repost that elsewhere? I'm eternally grateful to her for writing down her experience. I got high blood pressure just reading it. Did you buy the book for that? Great find.

When you get your copy of "Confession" you will see something kinda strange in the gag reel. The chica who plays his girlfriend is standing there and cannot stop herself from trying to put her arms around him and touch him.

She is just compelled to continue trying time after time, even though Chris has apparently had more than enough and continues to extricate himself from her and protest. It's so strange, how she acts. She doesn't say anything; she just continues to be drawn to him. The magnetic effect of Chris Pine.

In the mailbag today, this chica's blog at "Television Without Pity" needs some straightening out via the comments section. I did.

Chris Pine as Jack Ryan? OK, But Surely We Can Do Better

Chris's name came up a lot in the news items yesterday because of the People's Choice nominations. Too bad he and Zach are competing against each other in the category they are nominated for.

Finally, I came across this high-school picture of Chris. It's gotta be him; lookit the eyebrows.

O M G ! Those quotes from Jacob's mom's book!! LOL!!!! They are cracking me up!! I wonder if she knew at the time that she wrote that, she would be speaking for so many of us!!!! What a riot!!!

Pam, thank you for posting that!!

Oh Jeri, that "sweet sixteen" pic is too much! I just LOVE the fact that he wasn't a hottie right out of the box...that he developed with time. Suh-weet!

I found out about the book from a google alert. Someone had written a review of the book and in the reviewer mentioned that Mrs. Kogan talks about how hot Chris Pine is. I was dying to read what she wrote about him so I ordered the book from Amazon along with Blind Dating. The book's only $10 so I thought what the heck - and I think it was worth it just for "one of the most arrestingly beautiful humans in our solar systems."

The geeky Chris picture kills me. And I can't wait to see the scene in the gag reel where the girl won't leave him alone. Hee hee. My dvd should come today or tomorrow.

Well, I think I am going to buy it, too. Thanks a bunch, and feel free to post any other alerts you get! :D

Mrs. Kogan was off by one inch, I think. It was probably easier just to call it 6 feet in her story and be done; but everywhere I've seen, he's 6'1".

"one of the most arrestingly beautiful humans in our solar systems."

That really is some quote! At least she kept her dignity and didnt throw herself at him like i would have!

 So hard to know how one would react! I think I'd just be paralyzed.

Apparently, Chris went to this high school pictured below, Oakwood Secondary in Valley Village:

And here's the picture of Chris with his dad, which people have probably already seen on "Ellen," but which bears repeating.

OMG aw aw aw at little Chris. Missing his little front teef! <3 Such a cute pic, Jeri... thanks for posting! I hadn't seen it before.

He looks just like himself, doesn't he? :D Ellen also managed to get a home-movie clip from his dad, with the two of them together. I wouldn't mind seeing that one again; he's always had his characteristic features.

 I thought of that, too; but I hope to goodness he doesn't fail to notice the literally hundreds of adoring photos we have also posted of him. We're clearly infatuated. ;)
