Brian Brophy didn’t return?

Brian Brophy as Saavik but with TOS Augment Klingon makeup and Nero-style facial tattoos. And his first line has to be: "Thou art directed to return to thine own solar system immediately!"

Corbett died before FC was filmed, anyways. He wouldn't have been available for consideration even IF the producers had seriously contemplated the idea of bringing him back to the role.

Plus, when the choice comes down to "cast a famous Oscar-winning character actor in a major role" or "bring back a relatively unknown actor just for the sake of continuity," can't really blame the movie for going with James Cromwell instead.

And you can always explain Cromwell's appearance and the apparent age discrepancy on alcoholism and radiation sickness during the ten years since World War III.

Well if the production wanted to save on the costs of said famous Oscar-winning actor...

In this same thread we're still trying to find out how 51 year old John Ales is a Maddox who has to be 83 (and even that assumes he was a 25 year old Starfleet prodigy when he was in a position to reject Data's 2341 Starfleet application)

I say we just go out and recast all Trek characters in Picard with Patrick's buddies from X-Men. Famke Janssen can be Crusher (resemblance to Kamala is purely coincidental) and Hugh Jackman can be Riker.

Well, Mystique is already Number One. :)

I mean, Brian Brophy is 60, so if that's your objection, not much solace to be found in bringing Brophy back.

Thankfully "Broken Bow, Part I(ENT)" showed us what Cochrane looked like in 2119 and just before he vanished into deep space. He was basically not all that much different than he looked in 2063, just greyer and wrinklier. But that also means Cochrane was born no earlier than 2032 and was just 31 when he broke the warp barrier and made First Contact with the Vulcans.

Yep. They said, “Maddox was actually in an episode of TNG? No way! We just needed some character who was only going to be in one episode for ten minutes before he gets killed off, and somebody gave us the name Bruce Maddox. Nobody told us he actually existed prior to our show!”

True quote.
Now that, if true, I find far more disturbing than recasting the character. You'd think that with the synth topic in PIC, they would have watched this episode...

On the suggestion of our mod...

There just might not be enough Brian Brophy in this thread.

If he visits the BBS on the recommendation of a poster who knows him I'd love to see his reactions to our posts. We'll either sing songs about it until the day this board fizzles out of existence or be so embarrassed that we'll sing other songs about it.

Regardless, there will be singing.
