^ This.

Where does this consensus come from? This is literally the first time I've seen someone say that. And the consensus for "Solo" seems to be so far, "it's a great mindless lightweight action flick but terrible Star Wars" with "good acting, especially by Donald Glover's impression of Billy Dee Williams' Lando and Colt 45 commercials."
I did enjoy my Boba Fett action figure, I won't lie.
That's barely a childhood!
You know, as a child Boba Fett actually did catch my attention and capture my imagination when I first saw Empire. That said, these days, there's not much to the character that demands a movie. We've gotten an origin in AOTC, and Clone Wars explored his background a bit. The next thing about Boba Fett, his Mandalorian armour which is a major contributor to the character's allure, IMO, is also a told story. Clone Wars and Rebels have done plenty of material with Mandalorians, Rebels even gave us a very interesting Mandalorian in the main cast. Seeing Boba Fett really isn't all that cool anymore, he's just that guy who dresses like Mandalorian because his dad did.
I'll give the movie a shot, but I worry it'll be based around the nostalgia of "whoa, that guy they're giving Frozen Han to is so cool looking! I want his action figure!"

They should have made a Solo v. Boba film to kill two birds with one stone and get it over with. It would have bombed just as bad as the Solo standalone, but we'd have two Star Wars Stories we never asked for out of the way instead of just one.
Because Star Wars is different because...Why is it that when people talk about superhero movies, decades of comics and cartoons are 'source material' to provide all sorts of great story possibilities, but when people talk about Star Wars, if it's been done in a cartoon it's already a 'told story' and there's no point having a movie about it?
Superhero movies are in a different continuity than their comic book/cartoon sources, while in this case, Clone Wars and Rebels are in the same continuity as the live action movies. If a story has already been done on Clone Wars or Rebels, what is accomplished by making it into a movie? Why is it that when people talk about superhero movies, decades of comics and cartoons are 'source material' to provide all sorts of great story possibilities, but when people talk about Star Wars, if it's been done in a cartoon it's already a 'told story' and there's no point having a movie about it?

Making a movie is accomplished. It's literally kind of the reason Lucasfilm exists - to make movies. Not to mention taking popular content and giving it a much broader audience (how many people have seen Clone Wars or Rebels compared to how many watch the movies?)
That was Lucasarts. Not heard a lot from them.Lucasfilm also exists to make video games like Xwing and Tiefighter. They are not a one dimensional company
LucasArts was gutted and shut down as a developer by the Disney acquisition. That was Lucasarts. Not heard a lot from them.
It's all in how you market it. I hadn't heard of a lot of characters until I watched a film.Disney need to cut their losses now by cancelling the Boba Fett movie. Fett is an obscure Star Wars Character to most casual movie goers.
