Don't forget though, part of it is the characters growing and evolving. Given that the point of the show was these antisocial geek characters learning how to function better socially from their streetwise neighbour, it feels like a natural evolution of the theme.

I am all for the show evolving I just hate to see them move away from their geeky roots.
Incidentally, was this episode written before Quinto came out?

The geeky stuff is still there though. I mean, how many shows would feature a plotline devoted to a game of Catan? The show opening up to other forms of humour has happened alongside the characters discovering new things in their lives.
I'll always be a geek, and I'll always love geeky things, but I have other interests and other things to talk about and do with my friends. Asking the show to remain 100% geeky is the same as asking the characters to do the same, and that wouldn't make for an interesting overall arc in my opinion.

Yeah, it's kind of becoming "Friends - now with nerds!" Especially with the situation they have now that the girls hang out in Penny's apartment and the boys in Leonard & Sheldon's.
It's sad. First you have something a bit different. People notice and like it. And because people like it it gets transformed into something ordinary so that even more people would like it.
No, it's not certain which team Raj is playing on.
The idea that Raj is gay isn't subtext, it's text.
Incidentally, was this episode written before Quinto came out? Because "suck it, Quinto" is already to be read as "it"=my dick. I think Parsons himself is gay in real life too, which pushes that envelope even more. (Parsons played gay in a bit part in a movie, which I expect was typecasting from life.)
This last episode was one of the crassest Big Bang has ever done, overall.
Nah, he's too much in love with Howard.I like the addition of Amy and Bernadette as Penny's posse they just need Raj to get a steady girl to join and even the sides.![]()
I don't think Raj is intended to be gay. Hell, he's had more action with girls than the other three put together. He's just "metrosexual". He likes chick-flicks and pot pourri and feels empowered when dressed up as Batgirl, but saying that that makes him gay is just as much stereotyping as anything to do with sci-fi nerds. Feeling and expressing attraction for another man is what makes a man gay, and there's never been the tiniest hint of that. No, it's not certain which team Raj is playing on.

Only if you're obsessed with gay jokes.Incidentally, was this episode written before Quinto came out? Because "suck it, Quinto" is already to be read as "it"=my dick.
Yes, Parsons is gay. In fact he announced his engagement to his long-term boyfriend after winning his last Emmy. (Although I think they since called it off.)I think Parsons himself is gay in real life too, which pushes that envelope even more.
Really? Really?(Parsons played gay in a bit part in a movie, which I expect was typecasting from life.)

Exactly.Maybe what's bothering me is that previously it was about jokes for nerds and now it's more about jokes about nerds?
I'm sorry, but I think you're reading way to much into that. I really doubt that was the intention behind that scene. No, it's not certain which team Raj is playing on.
