Best looking? Monster Maroons.
One that I'd wear? Enterprise Coveralls. Really close to what I used to wear when I was in, So comfortable. Like flight suits. There should have been some type of "Dress" uniform for Enterprise, not just like the admirals where they have a Tie on the coveralls.Taken out for special occasions.

Enterprise-style uniforms while, say, crawling under a console/into a tight pipe makes sense from a safety perspective - less places to snag and get caught. TOS workers sometimes wear jumpsuits when getting in tight squeezes.

Looking at this picture makes me think there must be something to tuck the holsters into where the phaser and tricorder are held?

The monster maroons had the closest look to actual uniforms.

Or what we think is the closest look to an uniform, things might change in couple of hundred years?

I'll check back with you in a couple hundred years when I've seen what actual uniforms look like then. Until then, I'm just going by what actual uniforms have actually looked like, here, now, in actuality :p

The deep v-neck TOS jumpsuit looks useful as well.

operational uniforms or dress uniforms? If you look at what the crewperson wears on board a naval ship or coast guard cutter, it's going to be far more like an ENT jumpsuit. ENT had dress uniforms, even neckties, they just did not show them very often.

They had those jumpsuits for engineering in TNG as well, but mostly in the first seasons

Has to be the ENT uniforms for me. They're the most practical, the ones that look most like a believable duty uniform.

Second choice? The First Contact uniforms.

I may be the only person who's not a fan of the Monster Maroons. They look overdesigned, stiff, and unnecessarily... "fancy" to me. Good as a dress uniform, not a day-to-day practical uniform.

Ship bridge operations officers doing bridge duty on their ships type officer uniforms, & when the monster maroons were designed, this was the look they were going for, & this was the style most recognized as officers on duty at bridge stations. I realize sensibilities have changed some, but I always thought it was a good look for admirals, captains, & commanders in those movies, that provided a greater sense of dignity to their office.

Jumpsuits & t-shirts? More practical for certain things? Sure. Less stuffy? Maybe. Categorizable as uniforms? Well, I guess, considering anything uniform in nature, like a hockey jersey can be a uniform, but when I think of bridge officers wearing uniforms, & manning stations? This seems most reasonable & exemplary to me.

I understand that the purpose of uniforms is to present, um, uniformity. But, the US Navy has 6 types of uniforms, from dress to combat, and I think that of the various presentations, the film era presented the most variety that seemed to work like an organization would. TOS was closer, though still relied upon the standard service uniform far more than I think is practical. The TNG uniforms struggled with even basic variants, and DS9 and VOY added only a couple, if my memory serves correctly.

I think each era has its ups and downs and needs a tweak here or there to support being fully fleshed out.

^OK, but what I posted is just as standard, and hardly something to be considered a dress uniform. I just happen to think TOS did a better-than-most job of capturing the varied nature of all commonly recognized shipboard uniform types in their ranks

Well it is a tough decision, so I will try to make a list, starting with my favorite to my least favorite :)

01: The second version of the PIC Uniform. I always loved the DS9/VOY uniforms, and with this version they brought it to perfection, because they added this elegance of the monster maroons, where you could open the uniform at the right side of the breastpiece.

02: The DS9/VOY Uniform is a great addition to the TNG uniform and I always loved this version mixed with the TNG uniform. This version had the most time on camera of all uniforms. 5.5 seasons of DS9 and 7 seasons of VOY. This defined the look of Trek wear in the 90s.

03: The 3rd season final version of the TNG uniforms. They were a wonderful continuation of the TOS uniforms and clearly established the style of the 24th century.

04: First Contact clearly militarilized Starfleet, the Enterprise and its Crew. So the uniforms got darker and less colorful and in a sense more cinematically. But I think they clearly look more dated today than the other 24th century uniforms.

05: Monster Maroons. They just look awesome and really elegant, but I am more of a 24th century guy. They were clearly an upgrade to the TMP uniforms.

06: SNW version of TOS uniforms might be the best iteration of the classic design.

07: LOWER DECKS: This is a variation of the originally conceived Generations uniforms. I like them because they arouse some wonderful nostalgic TNG vibes.

08: TOS: The version which started it all. Simple but elegant, timeless but clearly a product of the colorful sixties. They still do have some charme.

Well, the rest of the uniform variants I dont care that much. I quite like some of them like the 32rd century dress uniform and the Admirals Uniform from TMP. :techman:

Probably TNG Season 3+ followed closely by TWOK. One of the things I like about "Tears of the Prophets" is those two randos standing around in the wardroom wearing the TNG uniforms. TWOK feels right for the films more militaristic attitude but I think with a bit more colour the TMP space clothes could have been a fun alternative and successor to TOS. Enterprise's NASA uniforms aren't bad but for me I think Seaquest and especially Crusade already did more interesting variations on that sorta style. The TOS ones are nice and so are their spinoffs even if they are the Wiggles, and I like when they play it straight in Trek 09. I like that the Kelvin ones are all blue that time around, like every so often they'll just all be one colour, like The Cage and WNMHGB.

I will say, for purely utilitarian tastes, I really do like Picard's season 7 suede looking jacket outfit he wears in Liasons & Attached. It somewhat holds to the sensibility of the TWoK uniform, which still looks the sharpest to me, but a bit more relaxed fit, function & design... not to be confused with the season 5 variant from Darmok, that had some faux leather shoulders that were a bit out of place imho, like someone was trying a small hint at Stewart's Dune stillsuit lol

I could really have gone for that Liasons look in wider use for everybody though

BTW, my least favorite uniform is Pike's abomination of an attempt at the maroons in the finale of SNW. (Which just scooted out of the spoiler zone.)

He first wore it in season five's "Darmok", though it had different shoulders in early appearances . I liked this much more than the regular TNG uniforms as well.

Yeah, that's a different jacket altogether, & not as nicely put together IMHO, but they were heading in the right direction

I haven't watched it but seen pictures, just wondering what's not to like about it? Is it because you don't like that uniform in general or does it look wrong somehow? It seems more a faithful recreation than the Kelvin universe or SNW versions of TOS uniforms (not that there's anything wrong with them either).
