I think the AL/NL thing is basically out of date at this point. I wouldn't mind some realignment, though I still hate that the Dodgers are our southern neighbors and no matter what happens we have to share a division with them. For a league that holds onto its divisions and the AL/NL the way MLB does, we've have opening weekend series like Red Sox/Reds, Rangers/Phillies, Rays/Cardinals and the Toilet Bowl of Rockies/Marlins. Where is the Yankees/Red Sox? Cubs/Cardinals? Heck, even like Jays/Mariners would have been an idea.

These deals are becoming more and more common because they're buying out free agent years in exchange for generational wealth up front, gambling that these players will be good and thus making it a bargain. But how many of these contracts have blown up in the teams' faces?
We do know that Jarred Kelenic turned down a contract like this for an unknown amount, gambling on himself, and he lost big because he ended up being a bust.
