Baseball 2026: RIP Mr Laser Beam

If the Cardinals are really cleaning house and rebuilding, then the Giants should absolutely be aggressive on Donovan. Might even get him for a nice (Not so expensive) package.

Rumor has the Mets offering Kyle Tucker a short-term deal $50 million per year. I don't really know anything about the Mets, but wouldn't keeping Pete Alonso have been a better value?

Not saying this is like the Rockies dumping Nolan Arenado's salary and then spending it on Kris Bryant, but....

Kyle Tucker not going to the Mets. Instead, for four years and $240 million, he's going to..... the Dodgers.

In other news, what are you gonna do with all that free time during the 2027 lockout?

I don't understand the Kyle Tucker contract, I certainly don't understand the Bo Bichette contract. When did they become generational talent? Makes Judge and Ohtani look like bargain deals.

Owners cry poverty, yet still need to one up each other.

Beyond Samurai Japan, other rosters for this year's WBC have been filling out nicely - not least in terms of how many American MLB stars have put their names forward for Team USA this time around.

Although, in terms of the pool stages, I'll be keen to watch how Pool C progresses over in Tokyo; while the hosts are clear favourites to progress to the knockout stage, it'll be interesting to see who else - probably either South Korea or TaiwanChinese Taipei - manages to get out of this group alongside them.

Carlos Beltrán and Andruw Jones have been elected to the Hall of Fame.

I'm glad Jones has finally been elected. Long overdue but I'm obviously biased on that point.

Shoot. They'll most likely get the series again this year. I have a bad feeling they'll get Tarik Skubal in 2027.

Given the reporting about the Pirates' ownership investing only a small fraction of revenue back into the team and the mess that the A's are, I feel more people might be concerned with a salary floor instead of a cap.

Brew Crew trades Freddy Peralta to the Mets plus reliever Tobias Myers for two prospects, Brandon Sproat and Jett Williams.

Seattle Mariners radio announcer Rick Rizzs to retire after the 2026 season after 41 years calling Mariners games.

The last big name trade of the offseason? Cardinals trade Brendan Donovan to the Mariners for prospects.

Buck Martinez, 77, retires as Blue Jays broadcaster. He had done over 4000 games since 1987. He also played catcher for the Blue Jays from 1981-86 at the end of his career, and was even their manager for 2001 and part of 2002.
