^ I made my way through the entire 9 seasons of X Files last year. It was a hell of a ride. :D

I'd been a fan of the show since it started but I seemed to lose track after season 6 and missed many of the episodes. When the DVD's started coming out, I decided to watch all the way through from the start.

It'll always be one of my favourite shows ever.

I watched all the seasons of Buffy on DVD too (cannot remember whether 'twas last year or '03) but I enjoyed them and I'd never been a fan before. I also started watching Angel and loved that even more. I was mighty annoyed when it was cancelled.

I've never watched Space: Above and Beyond, but I might give it a try. ;)

I've been TiVoing it off of SpikeTV lately myself...even though I have the DVDs, the episodes on Spike are easy because I can watch them on the treadmill and have other things to watch when I complete an episode.

Right now, I have The Siege of AR-558 unwatched on TiVo. I'm waiting to watch it until It's Only a Paper Moon records sometime this week.

I like to watch them close together. :)

I'm also watching season 7 of The X-Files and season 4 of Buffy.
Hehe, that seems like a good plan. And yeah, I also like to watch AR-558 and It's only a paper moon together. I really love those episodes (I've always been a fan of Nog). AR-558 is especially awesome. :D

S4 of Buffy huh? That was a pretty good year. Not at good as S2 and S3, but then IMO none of the other seasons were. I've actually been thinking that me and my g/f should start watching Buffy and Angel again. It's been a while since I've watched either of the shows the whole way through. :)

Trying to respond to SB, BladeRunner, and BigFoot here...

1. I think Space Above and Beyond is supposed to be coming out on DVD in the U.S. It's on my 'to get' list as I've heard it's really good.

It might even be out already (I've not been to Best Buy in a couple of weeks). If not, it will be coming out shortly. Either way, I'll be getting it, and then we can compare notes, SB! I'm looking forward to it!

2. As for Buffy, I've seen most of it...including the final episode. And even own the whole series on DVD. I stopped watching them for a while after I completed season 3, however, and never got started back up. So now I'm watching season 4. The last episode I watched was Something Blue, which was pretty freaky, to say the least. At this point, it is pretty gross to see Buffy and Spike goin' at it...even though I know what happens later. This was just so sugary sweet...I felt alot like Giles felt as I was watching it - just grossed out!

As for The X-Files...the last episode I watched was Signs & Wonders - about the snake handling church. Actually, I knew what was gonna happen by about halfway thru - I guessed who the girl's father was and who the REAL bad guy was by about the halfway point. But it was still pretty freaky with all of those snakes.

As for Angel...I watched it so out of order that I really think I need to watch the whole thing again, just so I can catch it all. I'll do it when I have time, but it might be a while.

BTW, BigFoot, Buffy season 2 is IMO one of the best seasons of TV in recent years. Can't get enough Buffy/Angel angst! :p

I've also been watching the occasional episode of Farscape...and some of the repeats of Atlantis when it's one I really love. I think season 1 of the Atlantis DVDs come out next week, and I can't wait. For reasons which should be obvious to everyone.

Vash, great intro post. It is a bit funny though, reading this thread feels like going to a first day of school. It's almost that same exact feeling, and I'm gald there are new people here too.

Any, we say this thread is talking about new shows, so I have got to ask. Is anyone watching Threshold? I was thinking about it today and how I really loved last weeks episode about how the three sided signal was part of a religous cult. I really liked the signal as a representation of the holy trinity. Overall though, this show is improving every week and last week was the best episode so far. I wish it didn't have to go on hiatus until the 22ed though. :(

Hmmmm... no, can't think why that might be. ;)

That's another show I've recently watched and enjoyed. I bought the DVD's as they were released, along with SG-1 season 8 (here in the UK, we got them released a disk at a time, Atlantis, SG-1, then Atlantis and so on, until the whole lot were released).

I guess I should give an update on what I'm watching, which isn't much. I've actually started rewatching some farscape in syndication, but what has me really excited, other than Threshold, The Amazing Race, and sports, is Enterprise season 4. I havn't seen much, but what I have seen has convinced me to ask for the season set at christmas time. It definatly is worth it.

^ Season 4 of Enterprise rocks. I'm up to Babel One and it's been brilliant so far.

Vash, here you go:

I can't help but wonder, am I the only one here that watches Lost and Futurama? Or are you guys just ashamed to admit it? :)
I'm also going through my huge porn collection as I'm writing this (that's multitasking for ya). It seemed to be the only natural thing to do because I'm not wearing pants right now.

peace

I was quite excited to see you list "The Amazing Race" in your post. I'm a sucker for reality shows, and "The Amazing Race" is one of my faves.

I wasn't nearly as impressed with Enterprise's fourth season as others were. After hearing their comments, though, I think the season deserves that I give it a second chance - that year was a bit hectic for me, so I was distracted a lot when watching the episodes. I doubt I'll be asking for season 4 for Christmas (I still need DS9 seasons 2 and 7 - that has to be top priority! :-), but I'll definitely be getting ENT season 4 at some point.

I forgot to mention Survivor too. So far, both reality shows have been pretty good, but not great.

Right now I'm watching and enjoying:
Prison Break
NCIS
Supernatural
Boston Legal
Nip/Tuck
LOST
Veronica Mars
Invasion
Kolchak: The Night Stalker
Reunion
Without a Trace
Ghost Whisperer
Threshold
Cold Case
Desperate Housewives

tomalak301, Threshold is my favorite new series this season. I do think it has been rather consistent all season and I'm enjoying the revelations and mysteries it is bringing up. I think it is a pretty original way of addressing a possible alien contact/invasion. I thought the pilot was strong and every episode has been at least good. I hope they aren't on the verge of cancelling it given I am on-the-edge-of-my-seat waiting to see how everything develops.

Maybe the move to Tuesday nights will help it. Carla Gugino is great and it is clear a break from Trek has brought Brannon back to his old creative days.

So it is moving to Tuesday. That will be awesome since friday is usually the dead slot. The lead is great and all the other characters are cool too. I am really excited about where this series is going.

^ I think it's basically meant as a place for us Niners to get together and discuss life, the universe and everything over a couple of drinks.

In that vein: Barkeep! A Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster, please! :D

I remember thinking when DS9 was first announced that it wasn't going to be very good. After watching Emissary, all of my doubts were erased.

One thing that makes DS9 stand out is that it is the only Trek spin-off that really tried to be different. The fact that the spin-offs that followed both tried very hard not to be different just makes DS9 stand out all the more.

No you're not. ;) I love Futurama and not long ago made my way through Lost season 1 in about a week. I thought it was great.

Anyone else here a fan of Red Dwarf ? Or Doctor Who ?

First, Bladerunner thanks for the hot Joe Flanigan pic. That was most excellent!

You should see my desktop right now. I got an Atlantis desktop off of Live Journal, and it is really great!

I see folks are posting lists of the stuff they are watching, and that is a great idea! I think if we all knew what each other was watching, it might give us even more to talk about! :)

The shows in first run that I am currently watching (including stuff that is on hiatus and coming back):

Stargate SG-1
Stargate Atlantis
Battlestar Galactica
Desperate Housewives
The O.C.
24
The Sopranos

I also watch two daily TV shows:

The Daily Show with Jon Stewart
Pardon the Interruption
(a sports talk show on ESPN) - and NO...I'm not a particular sports fan. I'm just a fan of this show.

I also gravitate toward the reruns of DS9, Babylon 5, Farscape, and Buffy. Those are good time fillers while I'm on the treadmill, cus I've seen all or most of the episodes of each show, and so don't have to hear every word.

You guys watch a lot more TV than I do.

The only current show I'm watching regularly is Battlestar Galactica.

Today I caught a few episodes of What's Happening! on TV Land. I used to watch that show when I was a kid. My brother was flipping by and we discovered it. At first he thought it was Good Times but I corrected him.

Other than a small handful of programs, all my favorite shows are from before 1980. :p

I guess we are listing what we are watching on a whole, and not what is currently on. I guess I should include:

BSG
24
American Idol
CSI Vagas (Occasionally)
Survivor on OLN
Arrested Developmen

Still though, I mostly watch sports and stuff like that, so I'm not up on the latest new stuff.

The only show I'm really regularly watching this season is REBA on the WB.

I also catch whatever happens to be on when I have a minute, and I watch a lot of DVDs - both Trek and movies.

Speaking of DVDs, does anyone have any suggestions of a good sci-fi series I could start watching on DVD (I rent through netflix)? Several years ago, I sporadically caught a few eps each of Sliders, B5, X-Files, and Stargate. I'm open to trying any of these or others on DVD. What's a good one to start with for a DS9 fan?

Yeah, I believe the S:AAB set is out already. :)

Yeah, I agree with you sentiments about the whole Buffy/Spike thing. :D

That sounds like a plan cos Angel was definately a wonderful show. :)

Well, S2 is my favourite season of Buffy. I realize S3 is probably 'better', as in it's got more consistently good episodes, but S2 is still my favourite. Surprise/Innocence, Passion, and Becoming pt1/pt2 are just some of the best television ever. :)

Me and my g/f finished Farscape a couple of months ago and she loved it. I've seen all of it before and I have to say that I enjoyed certain parts even more. :)
As for Atlantis, so far I've seen all of it and I quite like it. It's nothing special, but still I'll keep watching it, at least for the time being.

I watch Lost every week and I love the show. I don't watch Futurama though.

Anyway, I've gotta get my ass to work, so I'll post a full list of everything I watch later. :D

Well, m personal suggestion would be B5 and Stargate (and Farscape if you haven't watched it yet). :)
