B5: The "other" Delenn

A lot of those lines are altered or possibly even rerecorded. "Commander Sinclair is being reassigned," for instance. I don't think that's even the lines from "Points of Departure" reedited, just an entirely new reading.
Not a new reading, just edited, or perhaps a different take was used. The actual line in the episode was, "Your commanding officer, Commander Sinclair, will not be returning to Babylon 5. He's being reassigned. Permanently."

The main reason it almost certainly couldn't have been a new reading was because the actor had burned his bridges by bowing out of 'Severed Dreams'.

There were at least two versions of the opening. IIRC, JMS wasn't available for the mixing of the first version and went back in to tweak them and ensure that all of the lines were audible. Sadly, I think they used the original one for the DVDs.

Even if he hadn't skipped out on B5 under those circumstances I doubt that they'd call him back just to record a single line of dialogue. If it was one of the regular actors then maybe, but not a guest actor. Not worth his time and not worth the money to hire him. Plus, since it'd be far easier to use whatever is to hand, I'd say an alternate take or deleted scene is far more likely.

Good points. I probably should've just stuck with the fact that it definitely isn't the same recording that was in the episode as-aired (I'd bet "President Clark signed a decree today declaring martial law" is likewise not a frankenstein mash-up of the aired lines, but I only have Points of Departure handy to actually check if the readings matched).

^I'm pretty sure that line is from 'Messages From Earth' *checks transcripts* Yup! Here's the full text.

"And to confirm earlier reports, President Clark has signed a decree today declaring martial law throughout Earth Central citing threats to planetary security.
He's expected to provide information to support this action..."
Looks like they cut the line off mid-sentence for the sake of brevity.

Hm. For some reason, I was sure "President Clark" and "martial law" weren't anywhere near each other in the original line.
