Ash vs Evil Dead (new tv series)

"12 more payments and its mine!"????? :wtf:

Hasn't he had this car for 30 years?

Actually, being Ash, I could imagine he's sold and bought back the car multiple times. He's probably 12 payments from buying it back from the last time he sold it.

I too assumed it was the case of serial selling/buying since the repo business is vigorous enough to make it unlikely he could have avoided them for 30 years. ;)

What's even more amazing is he got someone to give him enough money for his 4 door version that its taking more than a year to pay it back. :rommie:

Have been loving the show so far! They are doing such a good job keeping the concept fresh. Was pretty surprised that we actually got to see 'The Force' for the first time ever! I always assumed it was invisible.

Was funny seeing the clearly-New-Zealand countryside during that road scene!

I had a huge grin on my face during the whole "trip." Especially that Ash's ideal place was Jacksonville Florida.

"I got two hands, Brujo. I need two beers!"

I kind of hope now, after seeing the latest episode, that the season ends with Ash finally getting to Jacksonville, but then has the city overrun by deadites

I'm sure most fans here noticed Eli had very human teeth when "talking" to Ash. One might reasonably argue he'd probably look cuter without them, but given this was a chemically induced, ahem, "inner journey of discovery", the teeth were probably added specifically for an unsettling "uncanny valley" effect. Uh, who was credited as thw voice of Eli? I didn't record the episode so I couldn't freeze the credits.

Is it wrong to admit I found Holly with the all black eyes and lower fangs even more enticing, considering how attractive she already is? I remember when Babylon Five used the all black eye motif with Patricia Tallman. Woof!

Sincerely,

Bill

Eli with teeth was hilarious and awesome.

So the hands just been asleep if the evil isn't around, hmm. And finally seeing "it" was great after all these years.

Glad we haven't seen the last of glitchy.

Aaaand another great one. Creepy and hilarious and awesome. Not enough Lawless but I love all of the characters so I can't really complain.

Honestly, at this point, Ruby and the cop are the only characters I flat out don't like, so the less of them the better. I really hope Ruby gets informed that it was her Dad's (Raymond Knowby, the unseen professor from the movies who first had the book) stupidity that is at the very core of everything that's happened to Ash. If her Dad hadn't translated the necronomicon and tape recorded what he did, Ash would never have run into deadites in the cabin, and none of this would ever have happened.

Really, while Ash is a (loveable) idiot who definitely deserves blame for some things, like this current deadite investation, Ruby's Dad is the origin of everything wrong that's happened since Ash first visited the Cabin. So, when she keeps complaining about Ash, it gets irritaiting. Same with the cop, who is the sole reason the book seller died and Kelly got possessed.

Also, more specific to this episode and the last few, if Kelly hadn't stupidly released the cop a few episodes back, who then broke the summoning circle, the Demon would never have killed the bookstore owner or possessed Kelly. So, really, when it comes to whose "fault" the demon was, I'd give 20% of the blame to Ash, 40% to the cop and 40% to Kelly for releasing the cop. It was a stupid idea from Ash, but it would have been fine if the Cop had stayed locked up.

The series is still very good, although this episode was probably my least favorite. Too much stupid from Pablo, and the demon wasn't even trying to hide, to the point where it became ridiculous that anyone thought that Ash was the possessed one (specially since ungagging him was all it took to prove he wasn't possessed).

But Ruby doesn't know that her dad was the source of all the Deadite problems. She most likely feels justified in her hatred of Ash.

I am also hoping that someone explains things to her so then the trio can become a quartet!

I know she doesn't know that, although she should know her dad's connection to the necronomicon, at least that he is the one who found it. I like Lucy Lawless a lot, but Ruby the character is going to have to go through some big changes before she's not completely annoying. The cop character I just want to leave, she's like Ruby but an even worse detective, and mostly incompetent.

.

Hint for those who haven't watched tonight's ep yet. Turn on your closed caption program, it really helps with discerning what the heck Ash is saying while he's gagged.

Poor Brujo,
we hardly knew ya. Then again, isn't SOMEONE supposed to die each week? Its the AvED version of being a redshirt. Don't be the guest star "this week" if you're the ONLY guest star this week. ;)

Is cremation the usual burial rite for Honduran shaman... or just for shaman who don't want to be dug up later and impaled by Ruby Knowby? :p

ETA:

A new interview with LL re: playing RK.

I didn't have any trouble understanding gagged Ash . Thought it was a decent episode but not one of the strongest though good to getting to know Pablo and Kelly more. I like the choice of actors, they seem believable for who they're supposed to be instead of some Hollywood put-on.

It does seem that we are going to end up back at the cabin eventually as has been speculated.

The projectile vomit looked a bit wonky but I liked the work with the deadite working his way out of Kelly. That thing is still freaky as hell.

I don't think Ruby is driving one of those new hellcat Challengers but it still looks suitably badass.

Do they still sell Ginsu knives?

ETA: ended up watching it twice as starz showed it back to back and had it on in the background. Think I liked it more the second time.

Can't wait to see the hand in action, I expect there to be some various gags and set pieces with its use.

The ep seemed shorter to me than usual, although it was very cool to see the demon pull himself out of Kelly.

Of course, in the future I would never sleep in the same room with Kelly just in case some vestige of demon remains. :cardie:

Was it just me, or is Ruby not very believable while trying to flirt with the detective? :p

That's flirting?

Yep.

I don't usually caress the face of women I've just rescued from a deadite and taken on a road trip to search for her own personal antichrist.

That plus the interviews LL has given suggest Ruby has her sights set on the young detective.
