Arrow - The Final Season

I thought the 2040 stuff detracted from the episode. I'm really into what Oliver is doing and then the ending with the disintegration of Earth 2 was insane. Having not read the comic, it looks like Crisis is DCs version of Infinity War, and that scene and the scene in The Flash reminded me of the dusting scenes Marvel showed last year. Really loving how they are setting everything up. I hope they can follow through with it.

This episode also reminded me of Season 1, and it's been a couple years since I've seen season 1. The way they reminded everyone of what season 1 was about was great. It reminded me of RTD and how he dealt with Doctor Who's season 1 (The Eccleston era) kind of guiding new viewers along while not skipping a beat).

I am sure I am not the only one wondering about major retcon. The Flash established that Robert Queen was the Hood on Earth 2.
Maybe Jessie pulled a Barry and Earth-2 had it's own Flashpoint? (Basically the DC equivalent of "a wizard did it!" ;) )
I must have missed where they establish that this was Earth-2.
Well, Laurel did say "my Earth" not "this Earth", so it seems fairly implicit.

Terrific episode of Arrow. One of the better ones in recent years, though I couldn't care less about the stuff happening in 2040.

What I really liked is that Diggle managed to find Oliver. Whatever happens, it sure seems like Diggle's fate is tied to Oliver's, and that's why we haven't seen Diggle in 2040. I'm starting to believe Oliver will survive Crisis, and Diggle will be with him wherever they end up.

The one nitpick. The antimatter wave hit Earth 2 leaving Oliver, Diggle and Laurel in deep trouble. Monitor sent Oliver to Earth 2. Where was he?

Why didn't Monitor provide a means of escape? If Diggle didn't have the Cisco gizmo, they all would have died.

Also one of the patterns of Earth 2 was that many of the Heroes from Earth 1 have doppelgängers who are bad guys. Killer Frost, Firestorm, originally Laurel Lance. That continued here with Starling City. Tommy Merlyn is the Dark Archer instead of his father. Rene and Dinah are working with him. Adrian Case is a hero instead of being Prometheus.

They didn't use the number, but they established that it was the home Earth of "our" Laurel, the one who recognized Earth-1 Oliver and Diggle, and she was native to Earth-2 (having been introduced in The Flash as one of the Earth-2 villains brought across by Zoom).

Having not read the comic, it looks like Crisis is DCs version of Infinity War

More like the other way around -- Crisis predated Infinity War by seven years, and was the archetypal universe-shaking crossover event that all the later ones were emulating. And the Arrowverse has been teasing the Crisis since literally the first episode of The Flash, so this version can't really be said to be copying the Marvel movies either, though I suppose some cross-pollination is inevitable.

It just appears that way because of the fact that Infinity War was so recent and big, and Crisis has never been done before. Plus, COIE has a much bigger purpose and was far more game changing as far as I know.

What's really got me curious is the aftermath.

The reason for THIS version of COIE is nowhere near as clear, so the end result could be much different, and for what it's worth, I think it SHOULD be much different.

It's time to get Supergirl on board.

For a second I thought Laurel stole Wolverine's costume

I really enjoyed this one, all of the alternate Earth stuff was a lot of fun.
Glad to know I wasn't the only one who was confused by this what we saw in this not being consistent with how Earth-2 was portrayed in The Flash. Maybe it's kind of like how Metropolis and Gotham tend to be portrayed, with Metropolis or Central City all bright and ultra modern, while Gotham or Starling City here, is all dark and old.
I loved Diggle showing up and insisting on helping.
The Season 1 call backs with the old Arrow costume, Moira and the Merlyns, and Adrian being "The Hood" were a lot of fun. Tommy being the Dark Archer was a pretty nice twist. I was a little surprised they actually destroyed that world, I didn't expect that kind of thing to actually start happening until the actual Crisis started.
I really enjoyed the future stuff last season and it was just as good here. Did we know John Jr. was a bad guy before last night?

That was a helluva way to start the final season.

Excellent episode, more please. :D

I've just realised something that producers haven't thought of / hope we haven't though of...
Clearly a year or more passes in the last couple of minutes of Season 7, which means that the "present day" in 'Arrow' is well past December 2019 when the Crisis is supposed to happen. So Oliver is only starting his mission to prevent the Crisis at the point at which it's already over.

Ouch, my poor brain.

I watched Arrow first and only now just watched this week's Flash, so I paused at the bit where Jay shows Barry his multiverse map, and there's a big red arrow pointing at Earth-2 as the likely next target, so his calculations have been obviously been proven correct.

I think the ending was way more effective not knowing it was coming though, but I guess I'll have to try and watch them in order from now on since it looks like Flash/Arrow combo is going to be the biggest on the Prelude to Crisis bits.

I don't think it's happening, but I really wish this season would focus on Oliver and Diggle Earth hopping.
