Archer In Trek 08?

I'd like to see the NX01 in orbit around Earth, with some kind of Docking infrastructure around it, and it being a museum ship where shuttles and transports dock at for day trips.

If it is kept in the background so that only us fans would ever notice it - yes, that would be nice...

Enterprise wasn't my favorite show but it'd be nice to see something acknowledging that thread of Trek history in the new movie...if for no other reason than as a nod to ALL of the talented people who worked on that show that had been doing Trek since the days of TNG.

Had anyone heard if there will be any reference to Robert April, or is he completely de-canonized a-la TAS?

With the launch of a new Enterprise, its only fitting Old Archer give some kind of Speech, and mentioning of the "now" original Enterprise NX-01 like Kirk was there to launch the Enterprise B, as previous captain of Enterprise (and A).

I think (hope) JJ is smart enough to stay away from gratuitous fanwank references, particularly those from a show many wish wasn't in canon to begin with.

Why the hell would he reference Star Trek: Voyager? ;)

Roberto Orci has indicated at www.trekmovie.com that the new film will acknowledge "Enterprise."

My understanding is that, near the end of the film, when all hope seems lost, a never-before-mentioned Magic Invisible Suliban Stealth Shuttle will swoop down out of nowhere and save everyone.

Maybe a background scene or something that only few people will notice, much like the Millenium Falcon in First Contact

I doubt we will see the launch of the Enterprise in this film. I think Pike will already be Captain the first time we see the ship.

I figure since the film will likely take place in a few time periods (Kirk as a kid, a teen, at the academy, and on a ship maybe), there's no reason why Archer couldn't be in a scene. As long as the scene calls for a character like his (a Starfleet captain, an ambassador, the Federation President, an older man, etc.) I would enjoy seeing him played by Bakula again.

He may have been around when the Enterprise launched but from what I can see of this movie is that it's not set during the launch but sometime during Kirk's graduation, which was a good 10 years or so after the launch of the ship. So unless they do show the actual launch of the ship and then skip forward 10 years then there could be a chance Archer may or may not be present in the movie.

Well, if it makes ENT fans happy, Archer is alive at least during the new Trek teaser trailer that just came out...

Let me guess, despite his old old age he demanded he be allowed to at least weld one piece of deck plating to the Enterprise.

I do wonder if Scott Bakula stipulated at least one Trek film appearance when he negotiated his contract back in 2001. There was that photo of him with Stewart & Spiner during a break in the filming of Nemesis. He was recently outside the Paramount gate while the striking writers' protest was going on. Such a clause would be rendered null and void during the CBS tookover, I suppose.

I see an old Archer in a wheelchair with old porthos at the launch ceremony.

Shaking his cane, "Ya dang ungrateful kids, in my day we didn't have phasers! We had phase PISTOLS! And no sheilds for us! We had hull PLATING! And our transporters weren't certified for humans! Ok, we used them anyway, but still! Now git off my lawn!"

"and one more thing"

*reaches into his pocket and pulls out something to poke the kids with*

"we had pockets too!"

Doubtful, I never got the feeling he cared for the NX-01 to do something like that. He didn't seem bothered they were mothballing the ship in These Are The Voyages.

^ Biggles jests. He knows full well the NX-01 rests in a 24th Century Fleet Museum, at least according to dialogue between Riker & Troi.

Considering there's 84 years between Enterprises, maybe Archer's speech would be short and sweet...
"What took you so long?". ;)

I don't know. I hear that tribbles may make an appearance.

If that's the case, what would be off limits?
