A race war between vamps and wolves, eh, sounds like a silly idea. Then again it beats more desperate housewives/teen angst silliness.
What happened to the young cop guy, Marcus? He's one of the few adults in the cast who are clueless about what's going on, besides Sarah, and she's bound to figure things out pretty soon when she realizes there's no such thing as crack cocaine in tea form.
So . . vampire blood, werewolf eyes, facial masks . . . exactly what kind of spell is Devon brewing?
My guess du jour is that she can change the facial mask owners' appearance by mixing it with the other stuff, but they won't realize they look different. That should be good for a laff.
One of my favorite things about the show so far is the depiction of vampires. There seems to be a pretty big difference here compared with vamps on other shows. Dylan and Claire have recognizably human morals and emotions. They seem to act a lot like regular folks who woke up one day and discovered they have a digestive system that requires cannibalism to survive. They don't act like they've transformed into a different, nonhuman species. Christian seems to be a normal human with an amoral point of view rather than a vampire with a vampire point of view. So far, Vanessa doesn't act at all "vampiric." The vampire that Nick rescued from the false accusation of murder was also very sweet natured.
It's an interesting difference and consistent with the overall approach that the supernatural characters are all essentially human in outlook. The fun part in this is watching the vampire be the responsible one ("shouldn't we get a court order or something?") and the regular human is the ruthless guy ("shut up and dig"). The solutions to the murders so far have also pointed the finger at the homicidal nature of regular humans.
The danger is that the supernatural characters might lose their edge. I think we need a scene pretty soon to reinforce that, yes, Dylan can be a very dangerous guy.
