The folks that restored the TOS E for the Smithsonian have the right color, which is a sort of concrete gray with a vaguely greenish tint. You can find online articles about it. I think they recommend Tamiya AS-12 Japanese gray for modelers, but I just personally prefer light ghost gray for a more on-screen look.

That's probably what I meant to sayI find Tamiya AS-18 Light Gray (IJA) to be a very good match for the Enterprise.
One of the best things about the Enterprise is that she is beautiful no matter the color. My model is currently primer gray as I finish up on some spots, but I enjoy looking at her even in this unfinished state all the same.

I have a lot of trouble painting eyes, so I was grateful her bangs were a separate part that shadows themI think I'll go back to planes and spaceships for a while, they're more forgiving. Any mistake can be called weathering.
