Anson Mount: A Pike Show Would Require Creative Conversations

I got to be honest, I find it kind of surprising there's no plans for anything else involving the Enterprise or Pike, considering how much money they've sunk into it. The Enterprise bridge is reportedly the most expensive set built for the show yet, the Enterprise crew got their own uniforms which have only been seen a handful of times, they've done up a special picture of Ethan Peck shaved and in uniform, despite the fact we'll probably seem him like that on screen for a minute or so, a well-known actress was cast as Number One and barely used, and last week they even made it a plot point that Culber is transferring over to the Enterprise. If indeed Disco is staying in the future from here on, which does seem to be the case, all this is going to be cut off from any future Disco episodes. I guess they can recycle the bridge set as some other ship's bridge or even utilize it in the Section 31 show (assuming that is in the 23rd century) but it sure seems like they poured a lot of time and money into the Enterprise, both ship and crew just to abandon them after the season.

Guess which ship Georgiou will be serving on next year of her show. The mirror universe Enterprise! Pike as first officer who will someday be captain only to be replaced by Kirk. Mirror Spock may or may not be their but mirror Culber will be. This is why they established a romance between her and mirror Culber. Also why our Culber has to leave. Actor can't do two shows at the same time. Maybe their mission is to stop the restiance movement which is now being lead by Prime Lorca who has made a new life for himself trapped in that universe.

Maybe there is just wanted to get a feel for a show based on pike , and building a set that they can use for the enterprise would be great

Looks like scheduling and salary would need to be addressed. Obviously he doesn't want to commit to as grueling a schedule as Discovery was for him. Especially since it locks him out of other projects. Plus, if he was billed as the lead, they'd need to seriously up his compensation. Perhaps a miniseries or several TV movies would be a better fit for Mount at this stage.

I read his comments similar to an actor asked about a sequel "I'd love to play the role again if we can come up with a good script and a good story worth telling and if we can make the schedule work".

Yeah, overall this really does seem like a "the ball is in Mount's court" scenario. Unless he is okay with the project, it ain't gonna happen.

Like Nike says, Just Do It!

I think it would be a great idea if Bruce Greenwood was cast as Pike's father and he and Mount had some episodes working together. :techman:

There's only about a 12-year age gap between them, and Mount looks older than his 46 years because of all the gray.

Greenwood is 62, 63 in August.

And not that I'd want him playing Pike's father, but he looks older than that to me. I'm still shocked he was only early 50s in ST 2009.

It's about 17 years.

Duh, you're right. I suck at math sometimes when I don't decide to get a spreadsheet open.

Still, they don't look far enough apart in age to be father and son - partially because both of them look kind of old for their age.

I agree. It's odd, but perhaps all the manbabies crying about Discovery made them discount the idea of doing a show on the Enterprise. I am sure they considered it in some capacity. I mean shit they ended up doing an S31 show.

Pike could very well end up being involved in the 'Section 31' show on occasion, or even as a main player (and sort of foil/conscience check) fir MU Georgiou. They've already set up the PU relationship, as well as a new relationship between Georgiou and Pike with this season of Discovery. I'm sure they'll find a way to make use of the Bridge set again either for the 1701 or another Starship/Constitution Class ship for the 'Section 31 series.
