...Does the working end rotate?

I mean, it apparently "really" does not, although it's very difficult to find a shot from an episode that would confirm this. But is the prop mechanically capable of this? Is the replica?

Beyond my pocketbook, but looking at the ad reminds me what a cool design it is. Whoever created the prop (and the communicator and tricorder) did a great job.

Yeah, everything is worth what it's purchaser will pay.

But no way Jose.

That's a lot for a model / toy

Seems light Trek fans are always getting ripped off when it comes to props and replicas. A Force FX lightsaber only costs about $150 on Amazon, and it sort of functions like the real thing (in so far as it lights up and you can hit shit with it).

I don't know much about the FX sabers but I do know, high end props always try to capitalize on a film or show when it just comes out, to snag the rich folk who need it now. And trek fans are more starved for cool crap than wars fans.

It does seem ridiculous though. Then again I am not a collector kinda person so I may not understand it well.

If I need that phaser now, I'll look on etsy and pick up one that a few people are offering. Some even have lights and sounds, and the total will come out to 1/5 of Anovos' price. If you want it in kit form, about $40.00.

I'm waiting for the McFarlane version, as it will probably have lights and sound, and looks like it will be pretty damned cool!

Trooth.

I also don't even like these phasers. they are too "modern tactical" lookin for me,

the TOS phasers have a cool vintage vibe to them and the TNG ones have a cooler, kinda unique sci fi vibe.

Yeah, that price is ridiculous, but not surprising coming from Anovos. Looks really nice though!
