All the Negative people.

I feel like we’re starting to get personal here. At the end of the day, I think it’s okay to not be excited about the show. It’s equally okay to be excited about it. And, it’s okay to express those opinions and have a dialogue about the merits of the show.

I’m excited. I love Star Trek old and new and this seems like it fits into my wheelhouse of shows I would enjoy. I hope it turns out well and look forward to it coming out very soon.

I agree. I was not super excited about Orville when that first trailer aired. It had that swishing gimmicky editing style that comedy trailers had (and is actually not in the show itself) and most of the humor in that trailer did little for me.. there were only two gags I liked (the "Oh crap" reaction when the guy pulled a shot gun out, and the whole gag about the empty space on the monitor, with the bad guy) but that trailer had to lean on comedy to pass itself off as a parody and not get the creators sued. It might be my opinion, but I have little reason to not believe that with LD what we see isn't exactly what we are going to get.

I’m pretty critical of Star Trek across the board, really having no love for the latest offerings. But I try to keep my criticisms from getting personal against the actors or creators.

I don't even care about your opinion on the show, but this needs to be addressed.

- That's a Russian orphan child soldier clearly much younger than eighteen called a "Son of the Regiment" fighting on the Eastern Front, not an American soldier at Normandy on D-Day, hence the PPSh-41 submachine gun and Soviet uniform. So, "yay for historical ignorance and child soldiers!", I guess.

- Most of the posters here aren't eighteen, so the generational insult doesn't even make sense.

- There are plenty of eighteen year olds and others of this generation voluntarily serving in our military right now.

As far as the safe space thing, given your history here I find that pretty amusing, but I'll leave that alone lest things get too personal.

you want to offer context, I'm fine with that. but the point of this meme is that people are so damn sensitive today they want everything to be censored and taken down and fit and now we can't even post anything. Maybe the imagery of these meme isn't the best they could have used, but it gets the point across

Look in a mirror.

Plus no one in this thread has been acting anything like that.

No one here has said you can’t post your opinion, it’s HOW your expressing it the problem.

Your posts are not being censored. I know, because you're here complaining about being censored.

Having the ability to post does not make you free from rebuttal or criticism by others.

Right?! People are so sensitive they can't even handle a girl as the lead in a Star Wars movie, or a Black person as the lead in a movie without freaking out about Diversity this, Diversity that... Don't they know they could just stop watching?

People think I'm just being negative, and closed minded yet i wanted nothing more than to see QT's Trek. OMG how awesome would that be? .. I'm just imagining how neat Trek would be with the QT stamp on it, and how much QT would have to set aside his own steadfast traditions to honor the franchise. THAT is now you do something. Even if his version wasn't as safe and basically 90s as Seth's I still would have LOVED to see it
Qt's Trek would have sucked because he only cared about Kirk.

QT's Trek would've sucked because there is NO WAY Paramount would allow him to do a R rated Star Trek. He would've walked away anyway--he's not exactly a four quadrant director, and that's what franchises (for the most part) are these days.

I'm not a huge QT fan. Pulp Fiction was his apex mountain. But he didn't get to be among the top echilon of storytellers in the business ebcause of cursing and violence, it's HOW he tells his sotries. I was curious if his is "How" would work with Trek

The amazing thing is the naysayers have been disproven so many times now everyone is just desensitized by all of it, kind of like a certain current events issue going on right now.

The haters will continue to hate, and in the meantime, we get a golden age of Trek and the vast majority enjoy themselves.

RAMA

Oh dear every time a new Trek show comes out all the people who want to complain pop out the woodwork.

I had no idea what this show was about till I poked around and I kind of like it from what I have discovered. I'll wait till its available on some streaming service locally.

True, which makes QT Trek the promised land of Trekkies.
