Spoilers Agents of SHIELD- The Final Season Discussion

I’m going to miss these characters.
I think I might too, which is a bit of a surprise to me. I've found it a generally underwhelming watch, but it's grown on me.

To be honest, theres zero good reasons we shouldn't see all of them again though.

I'm assuming from Fury's current activities and the wording on the back of Fury's Captain Marvel Pager (as seen on Ebay) he's doing something with/for S.W.O.R.D. No reason whatsoever we couldn't see Mack as Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. in the movies.

LMD Coulson could easily be introduced with no other explanation than "We have lifelike LMD's now".

Quake and Yo-Yo are both agents, Inhumans and superheroes. That's got to create opportunities all over the place.

May is still in S.H.I.E.L.D. and probably hangs out with Phil. We could see her as a Maria Hill / Victoria Hand type senior agent.

Fitz & Simmons are entitled to a happy retirement. Nothing to say they might not be seen as backroom staff at Avengers HQ doing a little consulting though.

There's a shedload of new shows coming - AoS is pretty much the end of the non Feige Marvel output (not sure about Helstrom) so there might be an intention to draw a line under the shows like AoS.

I truly hope not - it would be a shame to create new characters when these are vailable and bring a bit more to the table than "Generic agents 1 & 2'

With all the sentimental stuff, what's the thing that actually got me a little teary? Phil getting Lola. Back.
Sniff.
I remember Lola in the early episodes. What happened ?

Helstrom is actually the final Marvel Television (Jeph Loeb) produced show that will be released (which means that it will probably be one season and done no matter what). Everything after will be Marvel Studios (Feige)

Kind of hoping Gregg's presence might mean the AoS cast are treated 'differently' to the Inhumans, Runaways etc.

average finale, but satisfactory thanks to the 1 year later part. Really only missing a Bobbie/Hunter cameo or mention, maybe a dash of Deathlock and Ward somehow a with a flashback and a big "virtual" hug from Daisy and Coulson at the end.

As everyone (I like) made it out alive in one way or another I can either make up a head canon or hope for appearances in new Marvel projects ;)

Some favourite moments:
Out of Time Souza solves a Chronicom problem with duct tape and a big bang - hilarious rockets ;D
Coulson getting a new Lola
Souza reading Carl Sagan <3
Daisy SWORD

Thanks for the interesting talks, theories and predictions here on the board. This was a big reason I enjoyed the show even more!

I heard that their is going to be a new Agents of Sword tv show on either ABC or DisneyPlus so I think we might actually see many of these characters again. Daisy and Souza in space actually sounds like a pretty good idea for a spin-off in itself. Toss in some Nick Fury and Maria Hill and that would be awesome.

....and where did you read that? If you say We Got You Covered or Comic Book Resources, hang your head in shame.

This is literally the first time I've seen even a rumor of such a show.

Didn't get to see it live but just watched it now.

That was a good ending. It would have been somehow hilarious if right at the end half of them disintegrated. Cause you know, that definitely happens, about half of them are gone for five years. It's neat that they got to save both timelines and Deke became head of SHIELD in one of them.

I wonder, if they could switch between timelines, why it didn't occur to them to take them to the Earth destroyed timeline instead.

Also every team member got their idyllic ending, I expected at least one character to have to make big sacrifices.

Also weird they brought back LMD Davis, which suggests, is anyone who is a friend of anyone from SHIELD now effectively immortal?

I'm still wondering about the question, why did the Chronicons think Earth had to be their new homeworld as opposed to some primordial world?

I heard about it from here but I don't know how reliable the source is.

I haven't been watching since the season with the time jump after Earth was destroyed - was that season 5? Gave up soon after the season finale - i just lost interest.

However your reasons are all good but i fear Marvel, i.e. Kevin Feige, has decided not to use any TV assets in the MCU so there will be no cameos, references and much less any starring role in future MCU movies (which are crammed with characters as it is), especially now that Shield isn't even a thing anymore in the MCU movies since Winter Soldier (Fury and Hill were basically glorified extras with the last Hurrah in Age of Ultron).

Some thoughts regarding the snap. You could argue that maybe Fitz was lucky and that everyone else was not in the timeline so wouldn't have been subject to the snap. When they got back, post snap, it was a pre-Endgame world, with less people, and they just didn't talk about it. Unless I'm missing something, which is possible given that they go 1 year between seasons.

Except they went into the quantum realm at the end of season 6, a year after the snap (the end of season 5 mentioned Thanos in New York and Wakanda). I say the main characters were just all lucky, and didn't mention it in season 6 because it was a year later and they were busy with another world ending event. They then returned to when they left at the end of this season, so the epilogue is still just 2 years or so after the snap, and 3 years before the unsnap.

After that season being of of the best in the whole series - or maybe it only feels that way after seasons five and six - the finale felt a little disappointing to me. I had really hoped for a more MCU related ending.

But at least Agent Sousa is still alive, this season gave me a whole new appreciation for that character and the actor. And aren't Sousa and Daisy a cute couple or what? That's the first time I didn't feel jealous when Daisy hooked up with someone!

I felt season 7 was one of the weaker seasons, because the plotting seemed scattershot and villain motives made the least sense.

Also a problematic thing that kind of gets glossed over.

They have achieved in this universe exactly what they built a robot slave park in Westworld to accomplish. Robot bodies you can transfer your consciousness into. And they are keeping this a secret to their own inner circle and using it exclusively to bring back their own personal friends.

They've got a brain print of Jeffrey Mace too and only brought back Davis, just sayin. If he had only gotten to know Daisy a little better.
