Some thoughts regarding the snap. You could argue that maybe Fitz was lucky and that everyone else was not in the timeline so wouldn't have been subject to the snap. When they got back, post snap, it was a pre-Endgame world, with less people, and they just didn't talk about it. Unless I'm missing something, which is possible given that they go 1 year between seasons.
And in other news, they've left the Coulson LMD running around in the MCU. He could be introduced in the movies as an LMD with absolutely zero awareness of AoS required.
Which would be nice.
Remind me, what is the status of Fury in the movies now ? Is Mack Director ? Do the movies acknowledge that SHIELD's back in business ?

I just assumed he watched Endgame
It was a fine finale, if a bit confusing (only because I had ZERO memory of the finale to the prior season). Malick still annoyed me – what’s up with his voice? He sounds like he’s got a mouthful of gum. Is that an acting choice or does he sound like this?
AoS was a wonderful series. From a show that leaned hard on MCU familiarity to breaking off and going its own way – and was all the better for it. No lower tier guest shots by Sif or high priced Sam Jackson cameos needed. It became a Whedon team-show. I was actually happy when they decided to ignore the films. The films ignored the series, so turnabout is fair play.
I’m going to miss these characters. After a shaky start, they all finally grew on me. While I won’t miss Mack’s breathy growl, I did enjoy the dynamic and their relationship. Once they hit the Framework, this became a top notch action SF series. I would consider buying this show in a complete BD set.

The explanation of what happened to Fitz and what FitzSimmons' plan was felt somewhat rushed and confusing. The meeting one year later was fine, but I wish we had seen a little more of the time they are in now and the current state of the MCU.
All the teasing about what the team members are doing now ... this is just screaming for a continuation or at least one spin off, be it a Disney+ show or a movie!

Piper mentions that he’s a machine. Probably a LMD.
Overall I liked the ending a lot, especially the last scene where we find out what everyone is doing one year later. However, I found the whole resolution a bit easy. In fact, thinking back on seasons 6 and 7 as part of the entire series, I don’t really see the need for them other than the fun time travel hijinks and picking up Sousa along the way.
So I liked this finale but I wonder if the series as a whole would have been better if season 5 was the last season.

As some-one who's watched AoS from S01E01 but isn't up on the MCU films I'm quite fine with them not referencing the movies and quite possibly the series is better off for steering clear of them.
There was an interview in the New York Times that gives a little clue about the "Endgame" question, alluding to something that was cut for time involving their travel on the quantum realm insulating them from Thanos's snap, though that's probably not a complete explanation, since they returned to the present slightly before they left, so there's never any window where the characters are completely outside of time (aside from while they were in the destroyed-Earth future, but the abortive Infinity War tie-in later that season means that couldn't have been when it happened).
There was also an interview at the AV Club, mentioning something I nearly forgot, about how the Superior was almost going to be MODOK before Marvel decided they'd rather keep him off the table.
And there's a Deadline interview, but I didn't notice anything in that that wasn't covered in the other two.
Fury and Maria Hill seem to have been running their own little freelance spy ring ever since "Winter Soldier," not unlike the state the AOS gang was in between the Hydra reveal and them going re-legit in season 3? 4? Whenever Mace became the director-in-name-only. Aside from Fury having the Helicarrier in "Ultron," the movies have never indicated that SHIELD was (or wasn't) rebuilt into a legitimate public institution. Even the series never seemed like it fully returned to its former glory, at least until the end of this episode where we saw they had a big-ass academy, a working Helicarrier that didn't just get taken out for special occasions, at least three space-Zephyrs, and also, in the background of the last shot, the Triskelion had been completely rebuilt.
Simmons promised Piper anything she could imagine in thanks for keeping Alya safe. Apparently, that was bringing Davis back to life (or building a robotic duplicate, but let's just assume they pulled out all the stops and Coulson-ized him).

Yeah, that was a nice touch, although I didn't entirely catch it until I read the A.V. Club review. I knew she looked very familiar but season one was so long ago (and my memory is crap) that I couldn't quite place her.
