Back when he was introduced he wasn't 'the Russian" he was "the Superior" and the Marvel "Superior" who passed my google-fu filter was MODOK Superior. Once Aida cut off his head and it was living in a detached glass bowl I have taken to calling him MODOK Superior before he dropped the "designed only for killing" line. In the meantime the Senator and the Watchdogs who called him The Superior were all killed and by the end of the season SHIELD agents were referring to him as The Russian. Meanwhile only LMD bodies were around him with no need to call each other by name

Why is everyone talking about this as though the opportunity were lost forever? AoS is still being made, Sharon Carter is still alive in the MCU, and VanCamp is no longer starring in another series. So this could still happen.

I think he knows that. He's saying, I think, wouldn't it wild to pull off a zany comic themed plot point like that and actually do it on a show.
I think bringing Coulson back is just that but Peggy Carter would have much larger ramifications I think from Steve, to Pym and who knows what else.

Sharon on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. after Captain America II Winter Soldier, vs. Sharon on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. after Captain America III Civil War could only be a matter of one season in the life of Agents of SHIELD, but this would put Sharon as a very different woman, in a very different story, either in love with a war hero, or in love with a war criminal.
