Agents of SHIELD - Season 2 Discussion Threads. (Spoilers Likely)

Good question. He wasn't supposed to know that SHIELD was keeping a discreet eye on him at that point, so he shouldn't have been working with them.

Maybe he had a place where he hoarded and kept very useful resources.

"HULK...STASH!"

Built with Banner in mind, then, but considered useful for other projects...like Rogers' acclimation to the 2010's...

So it seems like the difference is that Coulson's Shield will be pro-superpowers, and Gonzales's Shield will be anti-superhuman.

It's still not entirely clear what authority the Gonzales Shield is operating under. Are they on their own too, just like Coulson?

Oh well, at least they're mostly friendly. (Except for that damn Kirk Acevedo.)

Maybe Banner built that cabin with SHIELD after The Avengers but before Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Interesting to get confirmation that the public at large learned about Hydra having infiltrated SHIELD literally on the same day Captain America took down the Hellicarriers.

ETA: The reference to "I spoke to Vic. She's going to save the Hub" seems to strongly imply that much of the episode "Turn, Turn, Turn" took place after the Battle of the Triskelion rather than simultaneously with it. End edit.

We get confirmation that Project Insight was originally Fury's idea--implying that it was then hijacked by Hydra opportunistically to try to take over.

Finally.... Looks like this Gonzalez!SHIELD may not be as legit as it claims. Much as I continue to wonder how on Earth they can operate an aircraft carrier without the support of a government, the fact that Gonzalez still hasn't cited the authority of a legitimate government in confronting Coulson does speak against the idea that his SHIELD has any more legal legitimacy than Coulson's.

So the place where Coulson was laying low at the end of the episode...could that have been...Tahiti?

Tahiti, VA, maybe. Hunter said that the escape capsule washed up on shore a distance away, so it has to be in the same ocean as the Elliot (I believe that was the name they gave to the aircraft carrier in the flashback sequences). Since Coulson was able to join him without the use of a quinjet or the Bus, I would take that to mean that the Elliot is anchored somewhere off the East Coast of the U.S. relatively close to the Playground.

I heard the name Illiad. I've mis-heard things before though.

It seems more likely after tonight that their entire force may be limited to the carrier that we saw them save in the flashbacks, and a squadron of quinjets.

After the first segment tonight, where we heard Bobbi talk about "orders from Fury", I thought Gonzales might have been tasked with reforming Shield too, just like Coulson, but now it seems like these guys are just kind of off doing their own thing.

Though I do appreciate that the episode went out of it's way to explain that they're not killing anybody. They're not bad guys. I like how FitzSimmons weren't even restrained when they were sitting there on the floor. No cuffs, no guards, no nothing.

Definitely Iliad. I had captions turned on while I watched. And as noted earlier, the name's from the comics.

This The Real Slimshield crap is really, really stupid. This is show has gone back to treading water. I'm starting to wonder if the other Whedon knows what he's doing. It kind of seems like he's in over his head.

I'm starting to think it's time to bring back Carter and end this bullshit.

Morse gave explicit instructions: ICERs only. If Calderon went against that, Morse was right there to see it.

I liked that episode.

Jemma takes out Mockingbird!

When she called Fitz "Leo", I forgot he had a first name and got confused a moment.

Mack got hurt protecting Fitz, I think Fitz is confused now.

I know I'm the only one, but when May sent Coulson out the escape elevator I could not think of anything else but Get Smart.

Mary Sue let him have it, cool. Just wait until she can control herself. And I like Gordon, now that he's actually gotten to say something. His first appearance he looked like there were just no eyes, but lately the area where his eyes were have a kind of blur, I wonder if he does still have his eyes but they are in that other dimension he teleports through. And I really liked his explanation of Skye's powers, just enough to conceptualize without any technobabble.

I like this storyline, but the whole SHIELD vs SHIELD thing just feels a tad artificial. I don't get why these people are at each other's throats like this, aside from creating drama. And the flashbacks to the day SHIELD fell make it seem even more unlikely given Gonzales' loyalty to Fury. It feels like they're trying to re-create the end of last season without proper justification...
