Agents of SHIELD. Season 1 Discussion Thread

Re: the Caprica/SHIELD correction question - I've asked around. If I get an affirmative answer that I can share, I'll let you know.

(I'll be surprised if Pierre Drolet is involved, though.)

^ Thanks. Don't worry about putting any effort into it though, it just struck me as looking similar and I was mostly just asking rhetorically.

I don't get it?

Below the highlighted area of the graphic, in blurry letters it says "in China's Hunan Province." If that's what you were asking about.

Also, going back to the earlier argument, that graphic makes it clear that the "guest house" was operated by the SSR, SHIELD's scientific division, and was never formally decommissioned. So the bunker was not owned by Hydra or anyone else. .

But the toy for Ronan the Accuser in the movie is blue-skinned. I don't think they'll make a movie toy that doesn't look like the movie character. Certainly, all the other toys look like their corresponding movie versions (you can confirm by comparing Korath the Pursuer to Ronan the Accuser).

I can't wait until there are more screengrabs from filming of Guardians so we don't only have a toy, but there are quite a few similarities between Ronan's toy and the blue guy in TAHITI. They have the same symbol, for one.

Ah! Good point. I hadn't seen the toys.:)

Where do you see that? The image has it identified as a "non-operational military bunker" that was never formally decommisioned, with an affiliation of "none" as well as mention of it specifically being a "black ops facility." It just says the SSR upgraded it.

Also, I'd like to do the "I told you so" dance now.

However, it was damaged by seismic activity in the mid-1950s and

:p

It says non-operational, whatever it is. But that could just be the official story. On the other hand, I'm curious how much involvement the writers have with visual effects these days.

Hunan seems to be a neighbourhood they want our attention drawn to. I wonder why that is.

There's a really cool restaurant in Arlington called Hunan Gate and Triskellion is in Arlington, ergo:

I should get some Chinese food

I took the "later upgraded for use as ____________________ by the SSR" to mean that the SSR part applied to whatever was in the blacked-out section rather than what came before it. For example, as in "for use as a medical facility by the SSR" rather than that their involvement ended strictly at the upgrading stage. It would make sense for them to be the ones behind resurrecting Coulson and experimenting on the blue guy, as SHIELD's scientific division. Plus, Ron Glass's character works for SHIELD, and Fury had the pull to get Coulson treated there, albeit it was extremely difficult to get it done, even for him.

I just figure "affiliation: none" means it's an off the books facility above the security level of most SHIELD agents, and the "black ops" part supports that. It's just meant to look non-operational and unaffiliated to an agent without proper clearance, even though it was never actually decommissioned and can be reactivated at a moment's notice. It's got plausible deniability if it ever is discovered.

Oh damn. The US is taking another week gap after this week's episode, but I think you guys are going to be behind for the rest of the reason.

I guess it's why Channel 4 left such a big gap, so if there are any more gaps in the US they can continue showing it and they'll only catch up the US airings without having to break.

Don't take this the wrong way, but I hope you don't catch up. I.e., there are no more gaps in the US broadcast (well, aside from the one coming up).
