Actually... I quite like that episode.

I like "Spock's Brain." It's cheesy and absurd and kitschy. It makes no sense and I recognize that it's not "good," but I enjoy it. Conversely, I think people have a much more forgiving attitude for "Assignment: Earth" than I do -- personally I'd watch any episode of TOS before that one.

Prototype was good!!

Take Me Out To The Holosuite and Badda-Bing-Badda-Bang. They both seem to get flake from Niners, both my girlffriend are hardcore Niners, and both of us love those two episodes!!

"These Are The Voyages"

This episode closes The Berman Years of STAR TREK with everything I could've hoped for in a finale. Just ... just everything! I know I'm in the minority, but I LOVE "These Are The Voyages."

I loved Prototype.

Except for the ridiculous infodump at the end by the robot she had saved at the beginning, I thought that was a pretty good ep!

A Piece of the Action is often derided, and it is easily one of my top 5 favorite TOS eps.

TOS: Catspaw
TNG: Masks, Too Short A Season, Genesis
DS9: If Wishes Were Horses
VOY: Are Macrocosm and Barge of he Dead disliked? If so, then those are my answers.
ENT: Though they are brain dead entertainment, I don't really hate Bound or Storm Front

Movies: I like Star Trek Five. There I said it.

I understand that this episode isn't much liked, but I really like ENT's Bound. Pretty Orion Slave Girls (a nice nod to TOS) and Trip and T'Pol finally get together.

Interesting thread.

I'm just gonna say from the off that although not episodes, I have always been a big fan of the first and fifth TOS movies, and I think the raw deal they get is unjustified.

As for episodes, TNG's Masks. It's been described by some as TNG's worst, but I actually thinlk the idea is very clever. I liked it when I first saw it and I still do now. I think Spiner is great in it.I also enjoyed Genesis.

These Are The Voyages isn't an episode I have much of an issue with. As a franchise fan rather than just an ENT fan I have no problem with the TNG characters being in it, nor was I particularly a fan of the Trip character to be too bothered by the manner of his death. I like that Archer is seen about to kickstart the Federation and the three ship montage at the end always brings a smile.

Personally I find the Klingon "culture" quite samey and repetitive. The Ferengi "culture" always felt fun. Plus I loved seeing how the likes of Pel and Ishka tried to put one over on the misogynistic males.

I find the Ferengi are funniest when they're bumping against other cultures. "Little Green Men" is one of my favorite DS9 episodes and "House of Quark" is a lot of fun, too.

But when it's all Ferengis all the time ("Moogie!") it can get a bit tiresome.

I really like "Masks" and "Genesis" and of course, "The Outrageous Okana."

I also enjoy "The Royale."

As for TOS, I like most all of them except the same ones everyone else gives crap to. The TOS movies, though, I really enjoy all six, and I like TFF much more than most.

The other three series I'm not knowledgeable enough about to have an educated opinion.

I'm ok with watching Outrageous Okona, & it is quite the object of ridicule. It's campy, but imho there's nothing specifically dreadful about it, in the vein of a Code of Honor. Tin Man is another one that takes a lot of flack, & I can't say it's a personal favorite, but it had appealing moments for me

I loved Prototype.

Me, too.

I'm also a fan of "The Way To Eden," "The Cloud Minders," and "Force of Nature." Also, "Horizon" is one of my favorite ENT episodes, and I love TAS.

I'm feeling better already! :techman:

Yeah, "Tin Man" is one of the better TNG episodes, and "Masks" ain't bad, either.

Very much agreed. I understand why some Enterprise fans and actors may dislike it, but I thought it was quite fun to have what is essentially a TNG throwback in Enterprise. The only shame, and probably the thing that makes it feel worse than it is was simply that the show wasn't renewed and this became the Enterprise finale.

TNG Season 1-2 seem to get dumped on a lot (e.g. "The show only became good with season 3"-type attitude) but I think there are many excellent episodes in there, and some true creativity and great ideas.

I like "Shades Of Grey" just fine; back when it was first on, it was great to see some clips from episodes I hadn't seen in a while (or in a couple of cases, at all!). The hate it gets is ridiculous.

Ditto Star Trek V. This movie has a lot of good things in it.

When I first found out that Genesis was derided amongst fans, I was shocked. I loved it as a kid.....so I rewatched, and it's not nearly as bad as people make out. It's main problem is trying way too hard to explain the science of the virus, instead of just saying "some virus got aboard, and we're dealing with it...". But Worf prowling round the ship? Terrified Picard? I still think there's more TNG episodes worse than this than there are ones better.

Hear hear! I wasn't that invested in it, but I certainly don't see it as the travesty it's painted to be. I thought the Riker frame gave the show context. It allowed the NX-01 to be "remembered" during a show that didn't even know it EXISTED. I never thought of it as the Berman bookend, but that's absolutely right.

And the ending made me cry. (Not like that. Shut up haters.)

The Search for Spock is one of my favorite movies. Probably my favorite that isn't TMP or TWOK (or as I call them "The two headed gods of Star Trek." :) ).

I don't think TATV is a bad episode in itself, when judged by ordinary episode standards.

But I can imagine that people were disappointed in it as a series finale. You want to see the entire crew "live" in some heroic last adventure that ties it all up, like we got for TNG, DS9, and VOY. Not a holodeck recreation of what later generations think happened (even though the tie-in to TNG is nice).
